Is receiving aid a good thing?
How does that 650 Million break down? How much of it is for military spending and (American) security (elshabaab?), what is possible with that aid that would devastate Kenya if we did not have the aid? What does America get in return? Genuine questions cuz I do not understand how foreign aid works....

Aid is an element of soft diplomacy and even based on that map above you can get a feel of US foreign policy.

In the case of Kenya-US relations; the main objectives for the Americans are their "war on terror", checking Chinese influence in the region and a means to exert influence on the government of the day. One could also mention the capacity development programmes but that's a part of my third point.

Speaking theoretically, if the US were to pull aid the security services and trade would be the biggest losers. On the other hand Kenya would not lack suitors willing to plug that gap.

I hope this helps.

Forget about the implementation details - lets talk about the need and market:
1) of course you would rather not be given and be self sufficient... that's the goal right? but kama hamna hamna... tusikizane - if you want to stay without aid, you can! but the truth really is you cannot cut out aid cold turkey and so if you want to build a railway line for your 5 year presidency . You want to impelement devolution. the same. Remember we are in a country of almost 45million people where less than 100,000 people make 100,000 shillings a month!

2) Borrowing comes with conditions. These conditions are better if there are a variety of people in that marketplace trying to hawk loans..ahem sorry aid to you! The west was the traditional aid giver and when china rose - we got better 'negotiating' power. one fails - you go to another! now if one shop closes... the other one starts behaving like Barclays did in the 80s and 90s!

Are you not supposed to be a capitalist?

How would capitalism work because it sounds you are turning socialist!

After a weekend of liberal excesses, littering was the best way to show love for the environment and to combat climate change and explain further other liberal perspectives. And after all, it is the work of the deplorables to clean up after them. But maybe this is the liberal swan song as starting Monday, they will be emigrating to Canada.......

If only some people vote as much as they talk, they would have no need of talking much. Sigh.

anyone who studied the economics of the 70s and 80s knows one thing. Kenya and indeed most of the african states that had chosen to lean west during the cold war were propped by the west. WHY? there was another suitor - the USSR! the same happened with Afghanistan and the Taliban. It happened with Sadam against Iran. Small countries are propped up. Exit the USSR and we had chaos... look it up! all those things that happened to us after USSR exited the scene. Even Multiparty politics, Structural adjustment programmes, Goldenberg (in an aim to raise dollars we needed to buy oil e.t.c.). So the reason we get suitors is not because we deserve to get suitors but rather coz one suitor wants to spite the other! We need to size ourselves up and ask... IS ASIA COURTING US TO SPITE THE WEST? if it is... we will be in big problem. Technically sioni vile tunasaidia china! sisi sio Angola or Congo or South Sudan that we have anything beneath our feet they care about.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump signed an executive action on Monday reinstating the so-called Mexico City Policy, which bars international non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortions from receiving US government funding.

"The President, it's no secret, has made it very clear that he's a pro-life president," White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters at his first daily briefing. "He wants to stand up for all Americans, including the unborn, and I think the reinstatement of this policy is not just something that echoes that value, but respects taxpayer funding as well."

Trumps White house - it’s a controversy ridden roll out!

His press secretary Sean Spicer, appears on 21st January the second day after inauguration to protest about under-reporting on the inauguration attendance numbers – an otherwise obscure issue but they felt compelled to come out to address!!

In that presser, in which he appeared as hostile, Sean offered non-factual info – ‘we had recording breaking crowd for the inauguration’ – well may be in its smallness!

Then Kellyanne Conway Trumps advisor/Counsellor also appears on NBC television from white house grounds, - attempts to defend the white house’s blunder of sending Sean out there to engage in trivialities.
While at it she wonders why the press won’t accept “alternative facts” – aka lies!!

Then in a second presser Monday 23rd Jan, Sean laments how they are frustrated and demoralised by the press!

Trump for his part went to CIA headquarters and tried to sell a lie – that he has not been attacking them and the entire intelligence community – it is all a media fabrication – hello... these are intelligence personnel the your usual ignoramus aka deplorables!

In the CIA meet, Trump brought his cheerleaders who were then strategically seated to lead in cheering him in the course of his speech – to create a semblance of cordiality and appreciation!
Trump tweets on the massive women’s protest in Washing DC, and other cities in the US – ‘why didn’t these people vote’! – A president engaging in unnecessary arguments with general citizens!

It’s a free fall!

POTUS Trump is also making some good decisions that objective people are glad he is making.

“I am glad the Trans-Pacific Partnership is dead and gone....." Says U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (D).

Just jetted in from the inauguration and what a great day it was for President Trump and the US. It was the biggest event in history but the crooked media has been trying to downplay it. Here are the pictures the crooked and evil media have refused to show.

From American's point of view, he is off to a great start. From third (world) parties he is making a fool of himself.
