As for KQ, the weaker Euro means fewer tourists BUT Germany & France are doing ok economically... UK, Germany & France are most important for Kenya...

We get hardly any tourists from Greece, Portugal & Spain... (or so I think)

@VVS you havent discussed the impact of the oil decline that comes with a crisis..

@guru - In spite of hedges... overall, a lower oil price is PLUS for KQ coz that is a constant use/factor...

I think KQ will benefit much more from lower oil prices...

dont be so sure about that... Germany is King of the EU and without its help Greece doesnt get bailed out...

the only problem is that German tax payers are totally against this citing Portugal, Spain following the same path...

infact many are now advocating for Germany to follow the UK and dump the Euro as their currency before it is too late... Now if that were to happen!!!!

Meanwhile i think i've changed my mind about chasing Kenol because its too illiquid to get the number of shares i want unless i bid the stock up to crazy prices..

More likely Germany would have Greece kicked out rather than Germany leaving...

If Germany leaves Eurozone then Euro will be 'almost dead' coz only France has real heft... Italy also cooked its books!

In the letter to NSE (on the NSE website), the MD has said "The Management expects the years ahead to show strong growth in company performance and profitability, with positive indication already for the first 4 months of 2010"
Applause Is this music or what? I had predicted a 1:1 bonus before results, this split is better!!

@ the deal....it hasnt "disappeared"....KPC had appealed the award and i believe KPC has lost the appeal...KK should announce it on the AGM day..

Horton... KK never said they won a case against KPC... Show me a letter/announcement to that effect...

@the deal - Are you sure the appeal has been heard & ruled in KK's favour?

"If the Award is upheld, it will contribute significantly to the future earnings of the company." So KK specifies IF... And it is under appeal to the best of my knowledge...

From today's daily nation - Seems what was lost was KK's challenge to have KPC appeal dismissed. So now KPC's appeal against the award goes on. Until KPC's appeal succeeds the 4.6bn hasn't been struck off.

Take advantage of the blip to stock up. There is still cash to me made from this one. Misinformation by the papers is sometimes good.

While the award stands until struck off or set aside(from legal perspective), shouldnt KK reverse it from their books (from accounting perspective)?

If it has been factored anywhere it will be in the interim accounts. The 2010 results will not be out till this time next year. Even if in Q1, these are unaudited. Even if the award is struck off, this co generates 100B in sales which books give it the worth.
