However, you can calculate the exact duty if you have all the facts beforehand. hi wise wazuans, I have gone through the thread and I have learnt alot. the information is invaluable. my question is, has kra sorted their crsp list to cover extra car features or they are still relaying on inspection by its officers to decide the extra duty payable? What beats me is how KRA is able to value an 8 year old "if it was new today"?Some of the models are not even in production where they originate from?Pure guesswork.. the rot in KRA is unbelievable. they themselves are corrupt to the core, thats why many kra employees i know own apartment for rent building in nakuru and other town, they earn not so much money but from the side kicks and bribes they get, wacha tu https://citizentv.co.ke/...-fake-kra-stamps-141011/

Why would you want to complicate your life? If the cars are manufactured in Japan, why import from 3rd party countries and not original Japan?

This thread helped me import Mitumba from Japan. Unit landed in Mid-December 2016, its NTSA who delayed registration by a few days because of the TIMS system and shortage of number plates. The online duty calculators are fairly accurate and the duty was almost as predicted.

SBT. I was lucky that the vehicle was auctioned within 3 months from my purchase date. I got the Auction sheet of the vehicle before it was sold to SBT. Grade was 4, interior was B, mileage was same as indicated by SBT. The Auction sheets are free for a period of 3 months from the auction date.

Agency fee was 10k. Driver was 4k but in the spirit of Christmas, paid 5k. I wasn't so trusting so sent a co-driver from Nairobi just to make sure nothing is tampered with. CFS was Mitchell Cotts, of the free 21 days, i used about 11 days(thanks to NTSA and shortage of plates). Vehicles are very safe in the CFS, weakest point is when it has been cleared and roaming the streets of Mombasa, thats when you can be swindled by mechanics.

We have an 8-year rule, so am puzzled that when I go to the KRA online calc. to calculate how much duty I need to pay for a 2009/6 vehicle and it doesn't have the 2009 option - its from 2010 only. What am I missing, I thought 2009 cars are within the 8-yr rule?

What am I missing, I thought 2009 cars are within the 8-yr rule? The rule is... The vehicle shall be less than 8 years from the year of first registration. The difference between the year of manufacture and the year of first registration shall be not more than one year. "..I am because we are. "― Ubuntu, Umtu,
