No one looks at the costs side.
RMS will probably need to hire HR personnel to go through the applications and come up with long lists and shortlists, traverse the counties conducting interviews, perform induction for the new sales people.
If I was in the same position, I would also charge an admin fee.
Lets take your scenario. RMS will hire an HR personnel. Of who's benefit is this exercise for? The sales person is going to be hired by RMS to bring business right? So why should I pay to get that job that will in the end benefit my employer? We are so used to being conned and played such that we dont know and care for what is right anymore. Burekabisa Is anyone forcing you to apply? Bas. Let those who want to apply wa-apply. Wewe wachana nayo coz you see conmen all over.

You can find many ways to justify the cost by RMS. it could by weeding out jokers, they'll hire staff to go through applications etc. However, they are alternate and better ways to do that, and other companies go through such lengthy processes.
But the bottom line is, for RMS, a respectable corporate citizen of the country to ask for money to be considered for a job..., that's immoral. Someone at RMS should have figured out much earlier that this wouldn't do much good to their public image

The morality about it,I am not sure. Surely RMS are not in this for charity. Sales staff to reach out to politicians? What do you eat for breakfast? Yes,that is the sole purpose. That is why it is 8 months and in all the 47 counties. In Inooro they have been asking those vying to contact them..... Things are getting worse for the poor kenyans everyday. It started with government institutions demanding that the students pay to be interns in these institutions. Now there are parents who are paying for their kids to be interns in a number of private institutions.RMS says pay 1000 bob to be employed. The poor are completely f*cked up. Consistency is better than intensity

And with thousands aspiring to become mcas, mps, governors, senators the local stations provide an excellent medium to interact with voters and will be a beehive of activity. So if RMS charges 40k per session for an aspirant to appear on radio and explain his vision, or for the station to expound on his vision the way Maina Kageni does for PRC tupulotis in his show, then they will make billions. So why does EABL or banks employ salesmen when every bar owner and businessman knows where the brewery and bank is?

@Murchr I thought you have been advocating for NMG and group to think outside the box, RMS has. Nominations tickets , thorough to winning, this is a good idea regardless. Mimi nataka unioneshe how good an idea it is. As an MCA of Mweiga, Kieni. 1. I know where I can buy airtime slots at peaktimes when everyone in my village is watching news and listening to the various favorite programs. Infact I have PR guys who know what the village guys are talking about and what the hot topics are. they have already created a rapport with the various tv/radio presenters such that i am the one answering and discussion those important matters online. Assuming that I buy slots just before news, in btn and after news in january, what else will Mr. sales man sell to me? 2. My other assumption is that sales people will not have the confidence to approach me and my bigger than life persona....remember I have like 10 bodyguards and several cars in my motorcade making sure I look important . 3. Maybe what I dont know is if RMS is planning to be a politics only station. "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. Kazi ya hawa salesmen will be to be the ear on the ground and identify any mca, MPig, senator, governor etc aspirants and sell the "advertisement package" to them. Instead of waiting for the aspirants to walk to your office, why not be proactive and contact them and promote the advertisement package to them before they go to rival broadcasting stations? That is what any brilliant marketing manager would do. And we are dealing with thousands of aspirants who desperately need publicity here. If EABL salesmen have to constantly remind me to take my usual tusker why shouldnt MAC aspirants be approached and be informed about advertising opportunities that will help their campaign? Also why do you assume that you are the only Mca aspirant in the country/county and thus you can chose when and how to advertise on RMS stations? #cashmoney #genius

During campaign times all media is booked, it doesnt matter if you have sales men peddling packages. What matters is the delivery.
