Of all the reasons to own a new car, these should be the lowest on the list...otherwise you might as well avoid in totality public transport, airports, lifts, schools, workplaces, hotels ..the list is endless.

Someone tell Uhuru and Rotich they need to lower taxes on locally assembled vehicles. This will create jobs and take care of environment since eight year old jalopies will not be as attractive.

Are electric cars taxed in Kenya?

They are fully taxed.

Thanks to know. I still harbour the dream for a Tesla but that's for another day....smile

Anyway, we don't care about our environment and we are happy spending our dollars on petroleum and it's irritants.Sad . In Brazil, the gaament threw in a tax break for the manufacture of ethanol blend consuming cars (E80s) and also zero rated the same. The result? Car manufacturing giants Chrysler and Ford came calling and set up shop. Brazil spares itself the pain of spending on petrol while encouraging farmers to produce more cane hence a thriving ethanol economy. Simple!

Drool Drool Drool you and me there...
