I ma told this lorry was a small mini tanker, same engine as a canter...it was not a tanker as our hogwash media is crying! What! I clearly read different from the hogwash. But what could the ka-truck have been carrying that could cause this magnitude of disaster in seconds and even the very able GSU boys could not escape in time? BBI will solve it :)

Pole kwa wote but there is a lot of misinformation from big media, eg the standard FB page has a picture of a 40 foot tanker on fire, then from random guys about a canter. But all in all sad day, the small warning bumps like the ones at mlolongo many and in 3 steps to warn you to slow down To Each His Own

Never understood Kenyan drivers affinity for overlapping, and a clear lack of respect for others, anytime traffic slows down on most roads there are idiots who think they are special and can not wait in line they have to overlap blocking others and feel nothing. The worst thing is that even cops, Gk vehicle's mps, top government officials, governor's, county vehicle's , all think they are special and can't wait in line and all this goes unpunished. Very sad.

Then this happens. These drivers need to be reigned in. Where is NTSA? NTSA are too busy collecting revenue. It was an absurd idea for bumps to be setup on that stretch of road nevermind the lack of signage. From some pictures in the blogs I see some "rapids" before the bups..the rapids are three mini bumps...I think these are meant to warn the driver of an impending BIG bump. My only proble is I dont know the distnce between these "rapids" and the BIG bump. The ones on the Thika Superhighway are so close to the main bumps/zebras that they rarely help at all. This is not only in thika road but almost in all roads. This rubbles are so close to the main hill that your best chance is jamm on the emergency brackes the moment you hit them. Sometimes I wonder if the same engineers drive on the same road. also noted that some of this rubbles are also unfriendly to "small" vehicles , they are so big that you feel like you are driving over rocks at 80 kph. Our highway authority is very much asleep. Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

The bump. Looks like one of those smooth bumps and not a sharp "killer bump" as being reported.

Quote:Between 2000 and 2016, more than 200 pedestrians have died between Naivasha and Kinungi towns along the busy highway. The majority of those killed on that section of the road have been school children mainly from Kinungi trading centre crossing the road to and from school. Following numerous accidents, area residents held demonstrations and urged the Government to erect speed bumps on the highway. Their demands were met last year when the bumps were erected in Kinungu, Raini and Kayole centres, which saw the number of fatal accidents drop drastically.

I couldnt get a copy online but here is the Tanzanian version which was copy pasted from Kenyan standard. http://www.tbs.go.tz/ima...loads/BCDC_5__3703_.pdf

Do you know what you are saying? Those bumps have saved lives. Quote:Between 2000 and 2016, more than 200 pedestrians have died between Naivasha and Kinungi towns along the busy highway. Pedestrians have no business being on such a busy highway.

If that happened Kenyans will come up with something more worse than overlapping. I don't bother or wonder about matatus but the other drivers (better known as subaru driving) still continue to amaze me. Why can't someone leave an hour earlier and drive in peace instead of overlapping and driving dangerously? You'd think these guys are going to perform a brain surgery.... BBI will solve it :)

chemirocha wrote:Pedestrians have no business being on such a busy highway. Is that all you can say? FYI the villagers were going on with their lives normally for ages until the govt decided to build a major road through their villages and govt never bothered to put bumps or flyovers to ensure safe human movement within the villages, including when children have to cross the road to go to school. NB For many years the only road to nakuru was the mai mahiu one. So the road found the villagers there and facilities should have been put in place to prevent negative impacts on the villagers.

there are better ways to handle this - rumble bumps to warn the drivers that a huge bump in coming. Flyovers - but they aint cheap! flyovers with blocked roads katikati. As seen you just change the type of casualties by just putting a huge bump in the middle of the road. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!
