Even if he was innocent, he is not more important than human life. I support the UN for calling the bluff. Does Kenya think it gives life to South Sudan and if they are not there the country would die?
In addition ...how come Kenya realized that the UN mission in South Sudan is dis-factional when our Commander was sacked? The UN offered kenya to choose a replacement for Ondieki but Kenya refused. Mean GORSS has welcomed the decision to fire the kenyan force commander Kenya is not happy with the way the General was treated. It wasn't his fault per se but structural and systemic issues for which he had no control off. Also the Head of the mission was allowed to resign and leave the mission gracefully with a note of appreciation yet the buck stopped in her office.when it came to the Kenyan he was kicked out unceremoniously...that move would anger any Commander in Chief. Kenya is behaving like an erect dick-It can't think through the consequences of it's actions-Kenya deported someone(inconsequential) who expressed an opinion on the matter and has this endangered the lives of so many Kenyan living/working in SPLM/A IO areas in South Sudan. The UN cannot pretend to Boss over Kenya. It is guilty of treating African countries like S**T,yet it lacks a mechanism of enforcing its mandate and calls upon the same countries for support. It depends on the goodwill of member States.Kenya should not agree to be bullied for the UNs systemic failures. The UN itself has refused to change with time .Most of the Mandates for these peacekeeping bodies have not been reviewed in decades. The rules of engagement remain as they were during the cold war era. What they should have done is told the General to resign quietly and avoid the drama . Reread my post. I'm not disputing that. What i'm talking about is the Kenya Govt deporting Machar's spokesman for agreeing with the UN decision If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

I think the UN needed to make their position public on this based on that particular attack and not being able to protect their aid workers in a country where they have forces stationed. Such an announcement should have been made by the Security Council and not the Secretary General. Looks like the stakes were too high. BBI will solve it :)

Is it mandatory for any state to participate in peace keeping missions or is it a voluntary activity? If it is mandatory, then Kenya made a mistake, but it is within her right to withdraw her troops from SS and for UN to look for a replacement. If it is voluntary, then Kenya cannot be forced to participate if it deems fit to withdraw. Anything else is hot air. ...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

It is not mandatory-The only stupid mistake Kenya did was to deport the SPLM/A IO spokesman for agreeing(post on facebook) with what UN did ? That act alone has endangered the lives of many Kenyans and kenyan businesses in SPLM/A IO controlled states in SSD- as of now, no kenyan truck driver can drive from Uganda to Juba. Whether that spokesman would have agreed or disagreed with the UN is inconsequential, he doesn't sit on teh UN security council If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

The July 11 attack on the Terrain hotel complexA very sad tale of the events, despite the fact that the UN peace keeping mission was less than a mile away, and very sad that its the South Sudanese troops perpetrating the atrocities! Kenya govt decision making here was obviously not well thought through. The incident was soo.. bad that it would have made sense for us to quietly remove our general. The added publicity generated by the govt actions can only make us look worse than we already are looking. Besides, this general should take responsibility as the head regardless of whether he had enuf time to prepare or not before the attack, thats the way things work in the rest of the world. Just wondering why 'we' are pushing our troops out of SS over a 'simple' issue, while remaining in 'complex' Somalia!!! In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins - cash and experience. Take the experience first; the cash will come later - H Geneen

This is a tough mission. Dealing with Southern Sudanese is a tall order. I don't see KDF agreeing to engage with the Southern Sudan Army.

Noticed something... the fellow was called Lt-Gen Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki. The people defending his firing call him Ondieki... the ones beefing about kenya leaving SS call him Kimani. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!
