Driving to Malindi via Tsavo East national Park

If you are up for adventure you can branch off Mombasa Road at Samburu, go through Shimba Hills and into Kwale.

Samburu is easy. No issues.

Hang on guys, @Chemirocha can you share more info on the Samburu route. More the experience and the time it will take to get to South Coast.

@Ricdees, if you are driving using the main road, leave Nairobi early, (say 5.00 am) and try and make Voi by 9.30 am. Have a 1 hr break at the petrol station right at the junction including a hot breakfast, then set off for Mombasa, you should be there by 12.30 - 1.00 pm

Used this road last year, Samburu-Kinango-Kwale is graded murram with a few rough stretches then its tarmac from Kwale down to Ukunda.

My 80's era jalopy covered Samburu - Kwale in two hours and Kwale - Ukunda in thirty minutes.

If you have the time and want to see Shimba Hills I'd definitely recommend this route.
