Would you like to own an e-reader?
This is the latest technology that you just might want to check out. It has a "like paper" display, replicating the experience of reading a paper book. Using power only for "button clicks" means that a single charge can last for up to 8000 pages and unlike a book, the electronic display allows you to change the text size to suit you!

@kalahari.co.ke just what the doctor ordered; what with iPods for music, fancy storing a couple of books on the gadget. Once saw a European lady using a kindle on a Fly540 flight - nifty

A few questions if you may:
1. Who is this manufacturer Cooler and how does he compare with Amazaon (kindle) and Apple (iPad)?
2. Can you get us an iPad or Kindle if ordered?
3. Assuming all the eReaders come from SA, why do some take 16 days?

@muganda the manufacturers are called cooler. We currently aren't stocking kindle or Ipad, so we cant be able to get it for you.
Amazon is an e-commerce business just like we are and with kindle being their invention we may not be able to source it for you.
However all products on our site have a guarantee and you will not pay taxes for your product if you buy from us.
Kalahari.co.ke is for the Kenyan market, and Kalahari.net (our sister company) targets the SA market.
The e-readers on kalahari.co.ke are targeting the Kenyan market and delivery is between 5-16 working days.In SA the delivery period is much shorter since the warehouses are based there.
Currently we are shipping all our products from SA and depending to where these products are sourced from gives the variance in delivery periods.

I use Sony Reader and I like it very much. There are few things to consider when buying a e-reader:
1. Battery life- very very important
2. Capacity, how big can you expand the memory
3. Does it have capability of showing photos, playing music-its is very soothing to listen to some music while reading e.g. in a plane
4. What is the technology they use for their screen. Some screens will mess your eyes.
5. Can it connect to the internet, does it have organiser, calender etc.
7. Charging from the mains capability. Some e-readers have to be charged only through USB in a computer (hooking on pc-cumbersome). Otherwise you have to buy a charger.

PS-I have a uneasy feeling that you have used Sony e-reader images to advertise for cooler readers.

@Kabush. Our cooler e-readers are sourced from Cooler (the manufacturer). To view the e-reader's description please go to www.kalahari.co.ke/elect...ack/65111/36257891.aspx.

@KulaRaha. Our prices are competitive due to economies of scale. Products on Kalahari.co.ke, Kalahari.net (SA) & Kalahari.com.ng (Nigeria)are all sourced in SA hence we are able to get huge discount margins that we pass over to our customers by competitive pricing.

@Kalahari - There is something I am not seeing clearly.
KulaHepi has just indicated that the price difference as 'obscene' (a difference of 20k). From his link above it shows $250 (approx Ksh19k) and also available @ £189 (approx. ksh22k) in UK.

As much as I agree you need to make a profit...but Ksh 40k is double. Now where's the "huge discount margins that we pass over to our customers by competitive pricing"?

@Jkmwatha the price difference is caused by the exchange rate when the products were bought and taxes that have to be paid

Exchange rate has not moved significantly this year.

Duty and taxes will not exceed 25% of CIF price...

A bit overpriced I think...
