In any case most countries including Ethiopia and Kenya do not have an off season dope testing program. Remember that doping is most effective when you are doing your pre-season running. Athletes build up their endurance during the months of January to March and thats when they dope. So testing during the Olympics is almost useless.
Without an effective off-season testing program in each country, its difficult to believe any result. Oh very informative, never knew that, have always assumed they test an athlete after a race for doping.

From sources on the internet, tests are random and can be taken anywhere anytime. I have never heard of off season dope testing program. I'd appreciate if you enlighten me verifiable information.

Well what to say about Ayana, i will be surprised if she doped - i think she just had too much in the tank for the rest, i feel for Vivian Cheruiyot. On the 7's well am not surprised because i don't think they were mentally prepared for the olympics. Until Benja and Co attend technical classes like for 6 months on coaching we will always have this erratic results. In this case Kenyans tried to fall back on their natural athletisism instead of what they had been training and when that happens your goose is cooked. But it was clear they were not prepared. I have been fortunate to visit the Nike Oregon project where Mo trains and the facilities are a sight to behold and i quickly realised it will take a monumental effort to defeat MO. To put it into context Mo came last in 2008 and 4 years later won gold - so what happened? The Oregon project has added technical bits to long distance training. i.e. Mo has a small oxygen chamber that only fits his head that he sleeps in - to recreate the high altitude in Iten and Addis. Half of his training is done in an underwater treadmill to create strength and speed (hence the kick) The advantage he has over the rest is so huge hence why they can never have a sniff at him. My question is why can't Tanui and the rest move to Oregon? For me by far the most exciting has been the swimming, am a big fan of the American teenage sensation Katie Ledecky, Missy Franklin has been below par however in the US they have this swimming centres littered round the country and the focus is and always will be technique. It was fascinating to see - they are not interested in times but from the blocks, the angle of entry in the water, optimum amount of dolphin kicks, the turn simply amazing, maen we have a long way and we may have natural athletes but we stand no match with the technical nature of the sport. Same case with the British in Rowing (these are Cambridge/Oxford boys and both in Cambridge and Oxford they have rowing labs that have perfected the art of rowing. The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

From sources on the internet, tests are random and can be taken anywhere anytime. I have never heard of off season dope testing program. I'd appreciate if you enlighten me verifiable information. IAAF wants all countries to create an off-season dope testing program which is why they declared Kenya non compliant. With regard to why off season doping is the most effective, see the words of Clemens Prokop, the chair of the German Federation
“The time period immediately preceding the Olympic Games is only of secondary relevance when trying to benefit from doping effects.”
The biggest performance-enhancing effects from doping are achieved during “training peaks,” which for the Rio Games would have been in the fall of 2015 and this spring.
Any tests carried out between now and the games are “inept” and will “never restore the level playing field in athletics,“’ Prokop said.
IAAF performs some out of competition testing on the top athletes. See this link

Please, what is this?? Track and field has nothing to do with team work but more about the individual. The only thing that may not work is an individual strategy and not team work. Each athlete should know the strategy that make them thrive. Example. We have been used to not having a clear winner in the 5,000 and 10,000 until the last lap. Ayana knows she cannot thrive in that. The only thing that works for her is to hit it early and determine the race very very early. All those athletes knew how Ayana runs. If you do not have the stamina to catch her, there is nothing you can do. Any team strategy is just useless in this case. The person who was hard hit by her pace is Dibaba. If the race was slow, anyone who has been watching athletics know what Dibaba can do in the last lap. We have to Congratulate Vivia but there was no answer to Ayana. We should not blame anyone. If you want to make a calculated guess on whether a person is doping, look at his progression. Most natural runners show their true potential in their late teens or early 20s and typically peak in their mid 20s whereafter they start to decline.
Aside from the fact that his coach was nabbed with viles of EPO, an unnatural progression is what makes Mo Farah so suspicious.
This chap was a bum in his mid 20s. At the 2006 Commonwealth games he was so useless that he was almost overlapped by Augustin Choge who was only 19 at the time.
Now 10 years later Mo Farah is 33 and running much faster than he did when he was 23. Yet he is at an age when he should be in decline. It is feats like these that leave you jaded about the sport.
