Safaricom record date is September 2 2016.
If you sell your shares on that trading day you will not get the dividends.
The register is normally collected after 3pm when mkt closes
If you sell on september 3 then you will get the dividends

Sell, sell, sell!!! is the word.
What was I thinking?. Friday Manenos. You are right. No div for you.

Thank you

My target has been 23. Once we get there then I'll evaluate the right side of the cartoon again on the direction and targets.

Safaricom is set to bill the government Sh9.2 billion for construction of the communication and surveillance system for the National Police Service.

The payment is to be spread over the next five years, with the amounts set to be booked as revenue.

Safaricom said the Sh9.2 billion revenue is based on percentage of completion, indicating that it could bill the government to the tune of Sh10 billion once the project is complete.

“The percentage of completion is determined based on work done compared to the estimated costs to completion,” the report reads.
Safaricom also noted in the report that no profit or loss has been recognised as none is deemed at this point.

If there is one area you cannot criticize the DJ is on how to pick his investments.

Did you mean "how to shaft investors?" Because DJ gets somewhere with majority shareholding and manipulates the investments/stocks/company/business and when he leaves reality checks in.

You may hate the devil but have to give him his dues. DJ started out with nothing but has ended up a billionaire. He has also turned people who have worked with him like Mworia and Owino into millionaires and those who invested with him in UAP and Centum 10 fold richer.

DJ started out with nothing but has ended up a billionaire. What are the initial Sources of his money/capital?Was he involved in looting from known firms? He has also turned people who have worked with him like Mworia and Owino into millionaires and those who invested with him in UAP and Centum 10 fold richer. Has he turned millionaires into thousandnaires? How many Wanjiku have gotten burnt in those firms?

Anyway he makes money where he goes and some fellows benefit with him while others are left holding feathers.

Am I crazy to have added at 19.8? Been thinking each high from 7 was the ceiling and lost out. With a prior average of 5.5 guess can afford to delve in, and with longterm and dividends in mind, will buy till my average is 13

You might wait for a long time, figured will be hard for it to fall that much as the beat recedes. Whenever I get funds will keep adding including after book closure. Ikianguka, fine, if not am still good

The pullback was shallow and on thin volumes just enough to dry supply at 21

I am also confused..The share might surprise ex div
The dip might be insignificantly shallow

And HY is always 2 months away...Significant volumes traded at 17-18.50.

RSI has stayed above 65!!!

Hating on safaricom:
1. Wanjiku carried the pregnancy and bore the child (IPO and refund saga)
2. Wanjiku nurtured the child through hardship (Stagnant share price coupled with very low dividends to earn all of the 85Bn in retained earning)
3. Wanjiku got bought off on the cheap by the fat cats (HNW investors, Foreigners, Institutions)
4. Fat cats pumped the price and invaded the cookie jar (awarded themselves Super High dividends + a forced SPECIAL dividend) - Wanjiku's blood, sweat and labour over the years
5. Fat cats are now planning to hand over the emaciated stock back to Wanjiku at a princely sum for another cycle.

Disclaimer: I sold my holding at a good profit smile BUT at a paltry Ksh. 4.10 Sad

Pesa Nane plans to be shilingi when he grows up.
