Btw guys, is NBK a junk because you don't understand it's fundamentals or because you just decided it is?

BBI will solve it

@2012 whether NBK is a junk stock or not will be decided by whoever wins the restructuring battle... but from price action it looks like investors are anticipating an NSSF win...

People... NBK is doing OK... the question is NOT whether NBK is a junk stock (IMHO, it is not)... the question is of PRICE...

Is NBK worth the 48/-??? Or more? Or less?

Paka (as I argued in another forum is not worthless... just not worth 4/-)...

NBK has consistently performed exceptionally well under Marambii for the last few years. There's no way you can categorize NBK with the likes of Eveready. It's an exceptionally good counter for any investor.

@2012 please dont compare the company's perfomance to the share perfomance... i know NBK is a very exceptionally managed company but if the restructuring formula that GOK is proposing for the company comes to pass then maybe you'll see how shareholder value can be destroyed no matter how good the company's perfomance...

@guru, to me the two cannot be detached. A company performance should determine the share performance. All the same I understand what you are saying and it casts a dark shadow on NBK but there's a chance this story might just end well. So let's meet on the other side after the acquisition as I'm also not buying before I fully understand what's cutting.

If there is such a thing as a junk stock in the NSE, then it is ACCESS KENYA. When every stock is moving north, AK is taking the opposite direction.

@ Jaguar, all the best. I hope AK has a good strategy going forward not to disappoint investors like yourself. But to be honest I think AK needs some deep pockets from somewhere or a miracle from somewhere.

Jaguar, kumbe siko peke yangu.
I think AK is a solid company. Its downward spiralling in its price should be a good opportinity to buy into it. Its not as if the company is going bankrupt.
There is nothing better than buying battered stock of good companies e.g SAFCOM at 2.90/= I hope it goes to 15 bob so I can increase.

@youcan'tstopusnow, all internet service providers are facing competition from their rivals, even safcom is feeling the heat from yu, + airtel coming soon. Does that make safcom a junk? Anyway, i just hope this negative talk about AK continues so that i get more at ridiculously low prices

@ jaguar and @longname, for once i agree with you both. Access with more customers, more assets, higher turnover and a growing economy is certainly a safer buy at 19/- than than it was when it sold at 35/- two years ago. Surprising there were more investors on SK shouting 'buy' than 'sell' at that time. Am watching closely...

No junk stocks... only junk firms... LOL...

Ultimately, if you pay too much then you feel screwed hence the tag 'junk'

The bank should just be folded or it's good assets stripped off and taken over by another bank.
