This is happening everywhere from Buru to Kile...Donholm became a slum longtime ago and land in Jericho, Uhuru was grabbed eons ago to form what is now known as Hamza estate. It is also happening in Mombasa from Nyali to Tudor to Kizingo. It is called Ghetto-nization.A cabinet secretary in current government was overheard saying that there is nothing GoK can do. Meanwhile kids in Kasarani have converted the rounder-bout at TRM to be a playing field as all open spaces have been grabbed.

The other day akina Alai and co-residents were complaining that the well organized "Nyayo" has also been invaded and kids play areas are diminishing fast and yet when vices like kids burning school become a pain everyone is pointing fingers but the problem is "hujuma kwa watoto". I agree with you that when buying real estate you have to consider the possibility of future ghetto-nization. I am a victim myself. I bought land in a "controlled-development" scheme where it was initially agreed that all land owners build a house for only 1 family on a 1/8th and that the highest a house was allowed to go was one floor. The designated shoppy was meant to have two pubs, two restaurants, one mini mart, a petro station, a police post etc., but lo and behold, shock on me when, my next plot neighbour build a four storey apartment which has a church on the ground floor. Everyday at 4AM we are awoken by that annoying musical instrument that looks like a piano taht all bandia churches seem to have. The most annoying thing is that the pastor always start with testing the mic by breathing heavily and then tapping it by his fingers and saying testing 123, testing 123 etc......masaibu....serikali saidia

Really!! How far from Rongo town, I have quite a bit of land in the area and they don't come that cheap. Within the town an acre is over 1Million.

Messing of an estate like that is sooo... painful. You can undo it and you lose value every one minute.

Talk about being short sighted.

I see Kileleshwa going down the same path eventually. Many apartments in Kile have water problems, indicative of poor planning. Also many Kile residents are straining themselves to live there, meaning that if people were to set up shanty shops(of which there are already several) there would be demand
