At least it will be converted into equity and I hope the treasury push for the creation of preference shares. It is a wait and see approach.

The Taxpayer will get less than 10bn in equity on a time-value of money. The existing shareholders will get diluted as well. KQ needs to go into "restructuring" [US-style Chapter 11] that allows it to renegotiate all its contracts, loans and (employee) agreements. Kenya needs KQ but a 'fit' KQ not the current bloated one full of debt.

@obiero waterloo! See how this stock is responding to debt burden.

Nope. Without an efficient fuel procurement then all the initiatives to turnaround the Company will be worth nothing. Fuel is the single biggest expense for an airline. Part of the reason why KQ was not able to operate bigger aircrafts is fuel purchased at exorbitant prices.

@Obiero - Folks follow and believe what you say. I am but a Wazuan with nary the analytical powers you have.

My "positive" pick has only made me 25% in 2 years. Surely, who would act on my analysis of KQ? Not the billionaires like Kirubi and friends. Not KLM. Not GoK. You, on the other hand, have an impeccable sense of timing and analytical skill bar none.
Folks who followed your recommendation on KQ are now millionaires.

Richard Branson: “I’ve always said the easiest way to become a millionaire is to start out as a billionaire and then go into the airline business”.
