Bonyeza.

Looks like we are back on course. No wonder no orders are going through...

PAT up 30% despite another huge dose of loan loss provisions. Income was up and costs flat. In other words, an investor dream...
Will wait to see Uganda numbers in Aug's interim announcement.

Pablo-you must be an accountant. Anyway, if you want to be pedantic, Group PAT went up 36%.
These are v good numbes given last yr for Equity was a tough investing phase with mistakes made.

I expect a big acquisition announcement between now and end of August.

Now ask-price is Ksh20!

Don't the already have a big stake in HFCK?

They never had an interest in NBK; it would not serve any purpose for them!

Mwangi and Munga [as individuals] may want a piece of NBK; I suspect the have been stocking up quietly.

This bank never stops to amaze. They want to use HFCK to acquire NBK because of the NSSF influence in both institutions. They are SMART

2 consecutive weeks of goodies from Muiganania. First the dividends then cap gains!!
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Coincidentally the link to Eveready EA results on the NSE home page is taking one to Equity!!

It is like all the roads lead to Equity.

Rumor(someone in NBK) has it that Equity wants to buy the GoK shares which GoK wants to convert into preferential shares but the NBK management is against Equity acquisition..... May be NBK will finally achieve its full potential

But the fact that EB is doing well even without this acquisition makes the share attractive! Am still stuck with my 300/= shares so my champagne is still gathering dust in the cellar...

Doesn't make sense. They can take over HFCK bila stress if they feel like but I think NBK is still the target.

BBI will solve it

@Wendy - GOK's and NSSF's shares in NBK are already preferential shares - GOK's loans to NBK to bail out NBK were converted into preferential shares instead of NBK paying back the loans. In the planned privatisation, NBK wants to strip off the preferential rights that these rights have when it comes to dividends. I imagine it is these preferential shares that Equity wishes to acquire. See:

Wendz maitu. I won't charge you for this advise.
Since you hold some Equity @ Ksh30, why not buy some now and average down to say Ksh23? I am assuming you didn't sell a house to buy the shares.

You'll then be in green by latest this Dec.

I consider equity to be one of the best performing stocks in the NSE this year (Plus Mumias of course) Its management have a stake in the business and therefore its in their best interests to ensure that they remain profitable.
In 3 years Barclays will not be the most profitable bank in Kenya. This will prove that you can still be for the masses and generate sufficient profits.
James Mwangi = LEGEND

Mwala usiuze. The NSE is on a bull and I don't see why you can't ride it till AT LEAST 25/==. Personally I bought at 16 and i'm looking for MUCH HIGHER prices to exit.
Talk about buy low sell high!
Guru hauongei? What do you think, ama uko shocked at these brilliant results? VVS?

@waithaka

thanks for the free advise - I'd thought of that when i was buying mumias(which turned out to be a better move).... I think my problem is, i bought these shares out of greed (hard to admit but true)..... The share was going up and up and up and there was alot of hype of it hitting 500...... The greed chomokad under the skin and I was all green with envy of those who were already in the bus...... and i boarded, just before it hit downhill!!!!hehehehee...

EB is a great bank but its not one of those shares i would invest in however good they are... At my old age, you agree some stability is important, dont you?

It was all greed and am not willing to put in any more shilling in it.... however, i dont mind holding what i have for a longer term. My intention was to board and alight at stage 40...... and they put a reverse gear.... LOL!

@mpenzi, thanks for the education..... i picked up the garbage from the grapevine and not sure the dude who told me was that conversant with what was going on..... thank God i'd said it was a rumor..
