Ysterday there was a gallery walk for some of the pilots, basically they were being shown the initiatives being done to save KQ. One of them said that he was taken for some training at Addis that costthe airline 5 million bob when he came back he was requested to take a 60k paycut the guy refused and was told to go on leave, thats from late last year so he has been earning his pay plus 10 nights out allowance even though he is not flying.Sad thing he is not the only one... The training he went for has expired yet he hasnt been working. He is going to Addis again... What would you say about this? What was the Director of Flight Ops the boss thinking.... @maka, You are not clear here. Captain returning to ADD again to do what? He is flying which aircraft type to necessitate training once again? All the old directors in KQ should leave if this Company is going to survive. The remaining should go including Ngunze. Incompetence of the highest order. Moving from B777 to the Dreamliner. ... possunt quia posse videntur

Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

The pilot should have been made to sign for a pay cut before proceeding for this training. Moreover, the CEO and his directors should be the first to volunteer for a pay cut before they ask other employees and things will fall into place. What a BLACK HOLE they are creating for the Company????????? @Obiero, you cannot blame Mwangi, every decision sanctioned by a director is endorsed by the CEO. Ngunze is the one to blame here. Can you see his flaws in decision making????

Why converting to Dreamline when the 777 is already sold? Why not send him home? This must be a pilot who knows someone somewhere who knows someone very up there. Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.

Night out allowance is per diem (Away from base allowance) paid during the training. It does not need to be in the CBA as any employee is entitled to it if away on Company related duties as well as training. The B777 pilots are being trained and certified to fly the B787 for the time being and there is nothing sinister about it. It is just how the executives handled it.

Who is the Accountant at the Head Office in charge of the two outstations? Are there finance staff there and what are they doing? These points to a situation where the internal controls are weak. I hope the loop holes have been fully addressed.

No one else. If the CEO was wise enough, he should not have retained the director until he was forced out. The CEO takes the responsibility of all actions taken by his directors. There is nothing that will cleanse him. This is just the tip of the iceberg, it shows there are so many missteps and miscalculations in decision making at KQ.
