@wasee thanks for the heads up. Remember musing about 'dominant rivals'. Good stuff for consumers from YU but when do they actually begin making money against their 15m+ rival with over 70% market share?

The slope on the mountain looks too steep. We all joked that Arab's money couldn't run out but once again... http://www.bloomberg.com...16&sid=awcBFPboKIyM

New strategy is required!

@muganda The mobile operators make money from the airtime sales. thats why Yu seems to be encouraging people to talk and talk. by so doing they aim to increase on airtime sales and also eat in safcoms market share.

Have u noticed that safcom has started adopting zain strategy(Remember club 20) of getting subscribers to subscribe for promotions e.g the sms promotion *188# ( once you subscribe the amount will automatically be deducted from your account daily). thats a con!!

Yu seems to be transparent and simple on the products they offer.

Surprisingly all these firms have foreign majority shareholding. We should have a fourth operator who is all Kenyan all the time then we can all join that operator as all these others are just fleecing us. Market survey indicate that effective call costs should not be more than 3bob per minute. But thats Kenya for you.

Welcome to the superfast speeds of 500bytes per second
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

if you are getting less than 14kB/s (kiloBytes per second) download, you are being conned big time. Call customer care and raise hell, curse if you must and they will sort you out. I've been using it for almost 3weeks now and cannot complain. Initially it was very unstable i.e connecting, disconnecting, hanging etc but they fixed the problem within 48hrs. With internet download manager, you can hit 35-40 KB/s

when it comes to technology am abit conservative.Yu is a lurkin threat to te dominant operator.they are te latest entrant into te market and hit te ground runnin.what i find puzzlin is te way they seem to follow te beaten path.zain walked te path of crazy offers n crushed out wit lifelong losses.te vuka promotion,billed by users as te answer to curtailin safaricoms dominance passed as te boards worst marketin decision in 2009 n helped sink zain Kenya deeper into debt.

they are best advised to be mo innovative

i would bet te biggest challenge to safaricoms leadership comes from te government.yes ,thro CCK.for instance if te no. portability comes into effect beginnin july and also if te same body keeps te promise of reigning on offnet charges amongst a raft of other regulatory measures then,this would be te fifth 'operator' and would b a sad day for safaricom

i would hope te co. continues to chart new revenue frontiers and continues to intensify their presence in data,mpesa,advertising etc to nip this threat before its too late

this will protect us,te shareholders and put the firm on a very sound financial footing to weather many more storms to come.otherwise,am offloadin towards te end of this month,just after full year results are released n hopefully around te region of ksh.6

blood in blood out

@jaguar,
I have checked their website and there nothing on this.Is it for real ama ni porojo?.If it be true,it's very temptingApplause and i may go for a YU modem (Kshs 1800?).
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
