I foresee a country where in future real issues will determine politics, maneno ya kabila kando.. aspirants would have to be telling us on where they stand on
1. Arbotion
2. Immigration
3. lean East or West
4. constitution...ammend or not
5. et cetera...

only that it has come too soon..
Kenya is a country in perpetual transitions...very tricky being on the crossroads all the time

I WANT YOU TO KNOW.......in the next couple of months to the referendum and after,please be advised.
.....i will continue telling you why to vote with me and not the government(one thief is better than two).
.....i will easily loose my cool and tell you something not very pleasing (go to ....)
...i will be raising my voice at the local(thats not true,you havent read the draft).
...i will be easily annoyed(so wazua will not be a kindergaten anymore for the weak hearted)
....i will attend my Sunday service to pray harder(for you who thinks you are right)
...i will not take anything you throw at me personal(expect a stinker when you throw me garbage)
.....i will forgive you after you win the referendum and still respect you(will also laugh at you and with you as well)


Finally......i will continue being Kenyan,diversity is our strength.God bless us all

intelligentsia, i have received a disturbing email that seem to have a lot in common with the points you raise here.

disturbing unlike yours because when you really get down to it, it clothes truths with lies to such an extent that the author must have been intelligent enough to know that it was mostly lies where it mattered.

disturbing because it spreads a lot of hate and then some towards muslims and islam as a religion.

disturbing because there are those who are bound to believe it and regardless of the outcome of the referendum, it will forever strain the relationship between muslims and christians in kenya.

you are one of those whose posts in this forum whose posts i usually find sober, even if i don't always agree with them, so i find it a bit 'interesting'. your post here of course has several real issues regarding the draft constitution but would really like to know if you have come across that email and your position on it.

I have also had ocassion to read through the said mail.
You will also note that the mail is posted elsewhere in Wazua wholesome.

The contents therein are, near fundamentalist.
However the contents of @Intelligentsia thread and subsequent post are within what is to be considered sober and itellectual.

Therefore @Intelligentsia should not be made to feel guilty of any wrong doing, neither should we demand his views on an anonymus mail in the internet.

mkenyan go through my email post no. 20 slowly carefully. I dont of cos owe you any explanation bt tis good to clarify issues.
This is an intellectual debate - purely clinical and devoid of any emotions. Note tis not the first time the issue of immigrant Somalis is being debated in wazua n other forums. N it wont be the last. And immigrant communities the world over will always be discussed by the host nation. If you notice I have made observations on what is happening locally & put it within a global perspective. I have no monopoly over such observations of course, & others (such as u) have made similar and more observations regarding the somali somalis.
No one is advocating for intolerance or extremism - religious or whatever. Far from it. Note a deliberate attempt was made to distinguish between kenyan somalis and somali somalis and the view of the former (kenya somalis) sought on this issue. There are many emails/newspaper stories going round of course, and more will come when the referendum nears (remember all those ones for 2007 elections) and IT IS UPON YOU TO BE A DISCERNING CONSUMER on what to intellectually chew or spit out. Pia, note some wazuans (and guests) will also copy our emails on this site and forward to others - and we dont know what modifications they will make thereafter. So, jipange ama upangwe...
And its a yes for me on the draft constitution.

@Intelligensia,Mkenya, Funda, lets look at it from a strategic anglePray , from. I mean from diplomatic strategy factoring Kenya's interests. There are those who believe that Somalia should be left to be as it is. Kenya benefits more from it while it burns how?
1. All NGO cash flows through Kenya, never really gets to Somalia.
2. All aid agencies have hqs in Nairobi with the concomitant benefits of foreign currency.
3. Somali govt also has hq in Nairobi. the benefits are endless.
4. Piracy cash (a recent phenomenon) is cleaned in Nairobi, and invested here.

Now viewed against the accompanying disadvantages the scenario becomes worth debate. The GoK has failed to mitigate against the disadv eg securing the borders, effective screening/vetting, without payinh too much attention to NGO "noise". I firmly believe we cannot mix NGO activism with security matters, remember Mt.Elgon, Mungiki etc?
