, from. I mean from diplomatic strategy factoring Kenya's interests. There are those who believe that Somalia should be left to be as it is. Kenya benefits more from it while it burns how?
1. All NGO cash flows through Kenya, never really gets to Somalia.
2. All aid agencies have hqs in Nairobi with the concomitant benefits of foreign currency.
3. Somali govt also has hq in Nairobi. the benefits are endless.
4. Piracy cash (a recent phenomenon) is cleaned in Nairobi, and invested here.
Now viewed against the accompanying disadvantages the scenario becomes worth debate. The GoK has failed to mitigate against the disadv eg securing the borders, effective screening/vetting, without payinh too much attention to NGO "noise". I firmly believe we cannot mix NGO activism with security matters, remember Mt.Elgon, Mungiki etc?
