Mkeiy, I live in a world where I know that not everyone believes in what I believe in.

In fact I know that some of the parents on wazua here are crappy parents. As such I educate my kids that they shall meet crappy people with crappy ideas and loose morals.

I don't try and hide the facts of life because I prefer to educate my kids rather than leave it to the fake pastors of the world.

I hear that he'll also clamp down on Tanzania witchdoctors.

Exactly what has film got to do with that?

He suggested that if anyone says they can cure aids, then he'll invite him to his office and have them prove it to them

I agree with that concept as long as it is applied uniformly.

Let him start with his pastor who says that if you pray 3 times a day and tithe 10% he shall go to heaven.

I'd also invite that fellow to my office to prove to me that 1. There is a heaven, to that he shall actually go.

Let us be serious here for a second. If you let one man decide what morals mean and at what time they should be applied then never complain when you get Humbaglar in the same seat who decides to also apply his morals.

If you hear something negative, please change the channel. After all you are paying for it.
If you can't change the channel, please educate your family about it. You are THE responsible one here not maina kageni

If these two are too difficult for you to do, then please go to the nearest childrens home and give out your kids for others to take care of.

Ati nudity is bad? Does that mean that I stop watching volleyball coz of all those bossoms jumping up and down? Or shall I be forced to watch wrestling after 10pm because those men's underwears are confusing my baby girl?

Ukishindwa kulea watoto ufinye kila mtu? You are not your parents - they were lucky not to parent you on these things and you turned out ok... Wazazi tuwache kuDefer our parenting to others (this is also a note to self by the way). I remember once when Shaffie Weru and co were being asked about Radio and the content on it and they said... it's not the work of radio to parent children! those announcers are not your child's parent - do your job... Jibu hizo maswali... zinakuja kwa wingi... wacha za heterosexuality but rather za homosexuality so... prepare and stop using Mutua as a guard. Utakuta watoto wanaona vitu vingi sana so start parenting early coz what you have been doing is supplying!

@ masukuma. Nimeshindwa na kulea watoto wangu.

Now answer the question you've avoiding all along.

Does nudity/porn infringe on family values?

Nudity/porn brings forth a family

The whole debate revolves around one set of people dictating their morals on others. Unless it's legislated - it's an opinion! it's an opinion that people kissing on TV is 'overtly romantic'... heck I subject my kids to it - ever time I can. I kiss my wife in their presence... wazoee... it's a legitimate way of expressing affection!! Watu wazoee public display of emotions!! it's part of their education process. Ati family values.... wanataka kusema values za family yangu ni mbaya? Wale wazazi wanashare room na watoto? So one day they will ban the holding of hands in town??? coz we are giving children "ideas". priss! watu waanze kuandika hizi vitu... pitisha sheria or at least some regulation! document it! sio mtu kuketi aangalie TV and anything that pisses them off is banned - huko tulitoka zamani!
Here is the thing... if you as a parent does not teach them... they will be taught none the less! so stop. Plus these days channels ni mingi and I have not seen like full frontal nudity on TV like forever so... people should take a chill pill.

I chanced on Ruth Benedict's 'Patterns of culture' and as I'm reading through it I'm discovering some horrifying things:

1. Humanity has advanced very little if at all since the 1930's when the book was written. Probably Man has only evolved his tools and nothing more. Deep inside, he's a caveman...

2. If Man was to build on the insights developed by the anthropologists and especially in a 'globalized' world then it would be once again building the tower of Babel while being sure that God will scatter the people again, and again... The only proviso being a world populated with enlightened beings from the womb- an impossibility.

There's something very curious and difficult about human culture and how different cultures can co-relate with such varieties in customs and traditions. And when you consider the KFCB and the role that it's expected to play in the country one can realize that they are probably on a fool's errand. But they have to hold tight because anyway, they are a source of revenue for the government, and connected people need to be employed. And if you have a job you must at least appear to be working and supporting conventional wisdom- at least as you perceive it.

Provisionally, I can say chaos and strife must rule earth and her people; and one would better stick to his/her business as intelligently as possible, knowing that every aspect of human affairs is WAR.
