@Njunge I get tired listening to idiots. We shall pass this constitution. Then they can come to me and I might actually sign their petition for this issue or other issues that I have a big problem with especially the cops striking issue. However, expecting me to wait for the second coming of Jesus to get rid of this upus of a constitution we have is going way waaaaay waaaaay to far. @ali if you expect me to believe that a pastor who rigged an election has been sent by God, then you have a big big problem. Hata wakizima taa

It is never that easy. The two principals met the Church people yesterday for a reason, my guess being that they know, whatever the outcome of the referendum, they matter in the political scheme of things and, that the issues they raise are not too frivolous.

Like one wetangula put's it in a "democratic" language, When the draft went to Parliament, some MP's were "resting their eyes".
Its obvious from the debate that only a few contentious issues exists. But are they significant?. There is alot of ignorance and hipocracy on those who are calling themselves "pro-life" or "Suprior Religion" Fanatics.
My position remains unchanged, ...i will not vote, neither am i registering as a voter. The Damn thing will go through wheather the constitutional pudicts or religious Leaders likes it or not.
Come end year, kenyans will have something else to talk about after all this constitution mess is cleared.
BTW when will it take effect?

People, the debates are healthy, but reminder to all about the most important part of all this, get the draft, read it, UNDERSTAND it, and VOTE FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE. Do not vote because of your mother, father, pastor,e.t.c. You as a Kenyan have every right to express your opinion. @Jaina, you cannot be forced to vote, but despite the bitterness experienced some of us still have hope for the country and its people. That small hope is what makes us keep voting, keep trying to make a difference with our voters cards. Taking a backseat will be fine for now, but that is until the ills of the country come knocking at your doorstep.

@Jaina A poem for you 'First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.' by Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945 Isaiah 65:17-Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore

The only thing i'd like to understand is when will it be implemented?. This Year, Next Year or 2012?. To me, thats more fundamental than the contents.

@nanfor1...always remember: "The frog never runs in daylight for nothing." So lets listen to the church men and whatever they are saying......and don't forget they were in court over these two issues as far back as 2004, before the banana/orange thing!!! and also stop calling others idiots just because you do not subscribe to their thinking!!! Have a nice weekend sister. When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

Good people
It is true the church pastors and priests have their point and have a reason for their opinion. It is important to listen to their views and which i do. but asking me to vote according to their opinion is stripping my right as a kenyan to make my own decision, to be heard on my opinion on what I believe is good for me and my generation. The fact that we have leaders, church or politicians, does not and should not give us an excuse to stop thinking for ourselves.
so, both church leaders and politicians have the right to tell us what they think of the katiba, but saying that they will rally their people to shoot down the katiba is where we part ways. Let the people decide. Even the Son of Man that they follow did not force anyone to follow him..... he gave them freedom to choose. For example, i still maintain that abortion issue is really a moral issue and not a legal issue. It does not matter whether it is criminalized in the constitution or not, if our morals are that decayed, it wont stop people from doing it... neither is legalizing going to make a morally upright person do it simply because it is legal. So, this far, i havent gotten someone to explain to me like a 4 year old why i shouldn't vote Yes for this katiba on the basis of 'abortion'.
For "cathy coats"... all reasons are limping for now!

I believe that there is a lot of pork barrell politics going on. It is very hypocritical for the Church to try and say that the proposed constitition has contentious issues. There is NO difference vetween this draft and the present constitution on Kadhi's courts and abortion. I believe that the church is being used by politicians who do not want this thing to go through. But I have a feeling that it will go through, people want change. After PEV fewer people are listening to the Church after it took sids in the election.
