Are you based somewhere you can source a vehicle?

1. You can buy a car with the intention of selling it within two months you're in Kenya. ...and do this every time you travel to Kenya. There is a possibility of selling it at the same value you bought it or at a higher value.

2. Buy the car use it for the two months store it for 10 months. When you return to Kenya (depending on what car it is ) you may need to have some work done... new battery, water pump etc. & also consider the car will devalue each year.

3. Buy the car and give it to a relative/friend to use + service it and make it available for the 2 months you're in Kenya. Car will also devalue.. Or your rela may 'lose' the car.

no.1 is a win-win situation.

I have not decided where to buy the car.
My mind is set on two or three different kinds of vehicles and my plan is to compare local prices the cost to import one.(I plan on looking around this June)

I am based in the U.S. and in Kenya during the months of June and December.In actual sense, storing it for 5 months at a time is more like it.

I loved your last suggestion. It made me smile. In a perfect world, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, it just is not.

Tuvok, I'll look into the risks of using a rental company. It might come in handy down the road.

I'm looking forward to driving around and looking at different vehicles this June. You are welcome to throw out some suggestions of reputable car sellers my way..
