I have been using the I&M card since 2011. Never had a problem with it - their card centre guys will frequently call you to verify online transactions.

As for Barclays, for online transactions they advise one to either use a credit card or open a prestige account.

Does Nation Hela still exist? I had some problems with them a few years back.

What are the costs for the I&M card and any spending limits?
Anyone here using the Nakumatt card?Can it also do international online purchases?

I use the Nakumatt card for online transactions, I load whatever amount I need and so far it works ok.

Most Visa and Mastercards nowadays work without issues.

Nation Hela still works but it's customer support is really bad. It takes long to do simple things.

Nakumatt card works fine with online purchases.

Other banks such as Co-operative and Family Bank require one to fill a free form to authorize online payments.

Equity works great but has a limit as to how much you can purchase online. I think it's less than 10k. To authorize your card to pay more online you have to go and fill a form at the branch.

The Payoneer card is awesome, but is best for those who work online and get regular, significant payments i.e. $1000 and above per month. You can withdraw in dollar notes at Kencom and exchange the cash for very good rates at forex bureaus.

@ Chaka, no extra charges for online transactions using the I&M debit card. Just the normal monthly account maintenance charges.

What you saying is that you are able to do online purchases with your "local" CFC/Stanbic card?In my case, my "local" Barclays ATM/debit card cannot be used

Do you have the Nakumatt/KCB or Nakumatt/DTB card,ie would there be any difference?I inquired and was told one chooses which one to get.The card is Ksh 100 or if you top it with Ksh 1000,there is no charge.It seems like a cheap card to have.
Another thing I would wish to know is whether apart from the cost of the goods and shipping,would the merchant for e,g Amazon charge a fee for using the card?

Mine is KCB. I doubt that there is any difference.

Yeah, it's a very cheap card - and it works effectively.

No fee for using the card. You just pay for the goods plus shipping as indicated on the site.

Ala...there are very many choices in the market these days. If you are doing Online transactions, esp those on dollars, Dash to a Chase Bank branch, negotiate for a rate, ask them for a Dollar Prepaid Card and tell them to load the dollars in there(The card is free). No extra charges when shopping online. No annual Charges. No Loading/Top up fees. If the transaction you are doing is in dollars, no forex exchange fees. The dollar card also works smoothly for those who get paid online eg Forex traders and you can again withdraw the dollars at branch, selected ATMs or withdraw in Kenya shillings in ALL other ATMs in Kenya. When travelling outside the country, the card can also access cash in whatever currency of the country you are travelling to at ATM or you just swipe at Points of Sale. Works well with Paypal too. No forms to fill when travelling...

This should also work with several cards in the market branded/powered by VISA or Mastercard. Eg Nakumat card which is also free if you are loading instantly. Naivas Card, QuickMart card...Choices are all over these days.

Seems this cards business still needs a lot of demystifying, and I dont think banks are doing a good job in that.
