1. 23TH April ??? Do you see something there? He can't write 23rd!

2. Reference number clearly shows letter dated 2012!

Is this scare mongering?

So every cord TV was duped? They used the same letter in their 7:00pm news bulletin

Maybe that letter was valid after all.

I just pointed out the errors in the letter, I didn't mean to imply to be careless and ignore the security caution.

I'm sorry for calling it a scare monger.

The government has released photographs of four wanted terror suspects said to be planning attacks at the Coast this weekend.

Police said intelligence reports had linked them to Al-Shabaab, and warned that the militants' top command has dispatched them to Kenya to carry out the attacks.

Among them is Abulkadir Abubakar Abdulkadir, a brother of one of the three young women being detained by police in Mombasa on court orders.

Security agencies have been placed on high alert following intelligence that Al-Shabaab terrorists have designed bombs that resemble suitcases which they plan to smuggle into Kenya.

The authorities have also released the photograph Musdaf Ismail Hashi, who is mentioned in the report as one of those dispatched by Al-Shabaab to bring in the bombs.

“Al-Shabaab are constantly coming up with new methods of concealing explosives. Following this discovery, police are alerting members of the public and especially those involved in public transport to be wary when they carry luggage. They should to carry out searches if they encounter any suspicious luggage,” the intelligence report says.

Mr Hashi is a close associate of Ahmed Mohamed Abdullahi who in March was pulled out of a bus that was travelling from Mandera to Nairobi and a bomb that had been weaved into a briefcase seized from him.
He was arrested by undercover officers who stopped the bus at Makongeni in Thika.

The bomb was in various parts including detonating cords and blasting caps which were concealed in the handles of a suitcase, “providing a natural cover for the suspect to pose as a genuine traveller,” according to the report.

More explosives were concealed in cosmetic containers.

The report added: “The explosives included RDX (44%), TNT (22%) and Potassium Nitrate (22%). This mixture was meant to cause damage five times greater than the 1998 US bomb attack.”

Mr Hashi is believed to have escaped that dragnet.

A pick-up transporting miraa from the Meru to Mandera town was on Saturday morning hijacked by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

The vehicle was hijacked along Mandera-Lafey-Elwak road on the Kenya-Somalia border.

Confirming the 7am incident, Mandera County Commissioner Mr Alex Ole Nkoyo said the vehicle had overturned before the militants appeared from the thickets.

“The vehicle was coming to Mandera town but somewhere at Fino it overturned after sliding in the mud. The militants showed up and stopped a bus heading to Mandera from Lafey and forced passengers to push the miraa vehicle back to the road before they drove away in it,” said Mr Nkoyo.

He said security officers had already been deployed to the area to track and recover the vehicle.

However, Mandera Miraa Business Association Chairman Mr Mohamed Abdi contradicted the police and said the vehicle was hijacked at Fino shopping centre.

“The vehicle arrived at Fino and was waved down by armed men who took control and we have lost the vehicle and almost 2000kgs of Miraa from Maua area worth Sh400, 000,” said Mr Abdi.

A kilogram of miraa is sold at Sh200 wholesale price in Mandera town and at Sh300 retail price.

Kidnapping and hijacking cases have been on the rise in the area.
