@pierce you need to be more ambitious than that... 80bob or at least 75bob by mid May is a sure win for you...

KQ results end of May (+/- 30 May)... What will they be???

As mentioned elsewhere, I think 2H will be much better (more passengers, no strike, better hedging gains, new routes)...

I hope 2010 is the breakout year for KQ

It's going to be a long wait for those waiting to buy at 50. Last trades at 63 and no supply available now.

Over the 2 months surrounding the world cup, KQ will have 4 flights per day to joburg, double the number today....and guess what, they are booked solid. There is a plan to increase this to 7 flights a day over this period. The price of the ticket? $1,100!!!!!!!

@dreamweaver,
I guess the price is so because the planes will fly back empty ...?

Four flights a day is crap. They currently do three a day without the WC. And also, they will not fly back empty as I understand that there will be European tourists who will be based in Kenya and only fly to SA and back on their team's matchdays. This is because room rates in SA are obscene.
Frankly they should suspend routes with low load factors and put those planes on the SA route for the WC duration, assuming the BASA with SA can allow this.

@GG - You know how protective SA govt is of SAA...
BTW, SAA is government owned so...
And KQ's Precision Air kicked SAA's arse in Tanzania so they might refuse KQ more flights... these south africans are very xenophobic...

@GG - At $1,100 return... it is cheaper for folks to stay in S.Africa...

Many fans share rooms, etc... say there are 2 guys...

$2,200 (return) + Nairobi hotel costs = much more than SA hotel costs!
A better (cheaper) option might be Botswana, Namibia or even Zimbabwe...

I am seeing KQ going for bonus shares with the oil hedge gains. They are a one-off profit gain, which should be used very wisely! But, lets hope the decision makers there are wise enough

I doubt the credibility of the story that KQ is increasing its flights significantly over the world cup period. If anyone has cared to surf SA news sites recently they would have come a cross a story running 3 weeks ago which featured a big domez between the SA parliament and SAA over SAA's non increase of flights between now and the world cup date. The SAA CEO reckons they have not seen any increased bookings and neither have one of their Star alliance partners I believe Delta who fly to SA from US to waarant any increased scheduling. US has recorded the largest number of tickoz bought by visitors. It's now very apparent that most of the travellers will be riding Eurocars and other charters as opposed to mainstream long haul airlines.
