kenyans on twitter and trending topics

over the last one month kenyans have managed to get three topics to trend on twitter but the biggest one of them was #turkanaoil immediately kibaki announced the oil find it became a trending topic this being a weekday
am wondering who are this so called KOT and how many tweets does it take for a topic to trend
