I used to have a similar impatient attitude toward such bosses.
Until I read a book by the late Carlos Castaneda on the training of a Mexican Yaqui Magician. Castaneda wrote several books on this and sorry I can not remember the title. But I do remember this: the most difficult test a candidate had to undergo before graduating as a magician was to find the worst kind of boss possible and serve or work for him faithfully and effectively for months (until his teacher said he could leave).
It was a test in humility, patience and wisdom. For the writer it turned out to be an important lesson in self realization. For instance, he ended up overcoming his original prejudices towards his oppressive boss and becoming his friend but he also identified that he had latent victim tendencies in himself that needed to be resolved, which was why he attracted such 'villains' in the first place. He also learned that wisdom is not a one man show - it can come from 'the mouths of babes' and jerks as the good book says.
Nothing in the universe happens for no reason.
