I have always thought that one of the most ill advised rules of the Catholic church is this celibacy thing. The result is that priests end up in all manner of landing hanky-panky. Many Popes in the middle ages had wives, mistresses and children and even today, many priests have girlfriends.
The bible does not forbid marriage in order to serve and I wonder if this revelation will lead to more debate within the church on whether it is time to make celibacy a personal choice for priests.
