I think what you're saying has something to do with the motivation. Like the little girl exacerbated the guilt Rosario had triggered after her parent's death. Such that the motive might have been to remove an object of guilt that was also Rosario. It goes back to Rosario's mother and father, Rosario choosing a mate, the decision to adopt ... It's like the end could be seen before it happened.
