A friend who currently works in corporate Kenya wants to quit his job. He is around 40 years old, and heavily invested in real estate. He wishes to venture into big business to realize his entrepreneurship dream. He told me that he is tired of being employed and would like to venture and dedicate his effort in managing a business. He intends to venture into any business that would yield a net of 1 million per month, as long as it is not in real estate (real estate has a low return on investment). Which businesses (below 6 million capital), have the potential to yield his target income, assuming he will manage the business personally and dedicate 100% of his time? Any wazuan here who has figures of 1) Busy nightclub in Westlands, Town or the suburbs? 2) A petrol station? 3)A fast food restaurant in town? ....what are the approximate figures for such establishments? Any other establishments that cross your mind?

Tell your friend to keep his job. Entrepreneurship is lot for everyone.
The quick gain he is looking for will only lead to purchase of snake oil.

There are two businesses that can give you this income - i.e. KES1,000,000 net per month from capital of KES 6,000,000. Cocain and Methamphetamine (from online research)

The later would have less barriers to entry in Kenya since it's currently not well established like the former.

All the best to your friend. Make sure to update progress.

The guy is tired of working and just completed a massive real estate project using windfall income (disposing an acre of land in a posh estate to a developer). Lets just say that at this point, he can afford to pursue entrepreneurship without worrying about the kid's education for eternity. He wants peace of mind, to be an own boss and generate income from an own business.

I knew one club on Moi Avenue....owners spent about 21M to set it up,and I know they were doing sales of about 1.8-2.5M on Friday & Sato combined. Now you know how much a serious club would cost.

Its best he stays employed there or lowers his ambitions given he has 6M for startup. Also, competition in the streets is real and very ruthless. He had better have the energy and skill. My 2cents
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.

Tell your friend to get a gun and start operating a Shylock biz.Its very lucrative but its not for the faint hearted. That's why he needs a gun.
Else tell him to go into tenderpreneurship. He however needs to throw all his morals outside the window before attempting this.
