I am being treated for prostitis but my current urologist is too expensive for me. Consultation is 3k per session. My condition is chronic and therefore requires long term treatment. Does anyone know a good urologist who will charge a bit less?
Thanks

Sensitive subject this. I see, even you, had to register a different user, to seek help.

Ever tried doing prostate massages to yourself? Or having mama watoto do them?

This is an inflamation of the prostrate probably caused by an infection. I don't think massages will do.
Thanks anyway for your contribution.

Pole @hardcore.

If it is confirmed that you have chronic prostitis, then you need to take antibiotics continuously for 4 months. Recommended antibiotics are cheap (septrin and ciprofloxacin). Urine cultures may necessitate a different set of antibiotics which should be taken for a minimum 8 weeks. You only need to see your doctor once or twice a month (max 6k a month). Try to reduce the review sessions, because he will do "nothing much" in the 10mins he will be with you. You can refill the prescription at a reputable pharmacy (keep a photocopy of the prescription in-case the pharmacist retains the original). For pain or discomfort painkillers (panadol, brufen) are enough. If your prostate is enlarged, you will need a drug for the relief of pain and swelling. During treatment, it is useful to put warm water (plus a little salt and vinegar) in a karai and sitting in it for 20 minutes. It is also useful to ejaculate (by whichever mode you prefer) often to get rid of infected prostatic fluids. If the cost of treatment is too high or resolution does not happen soon, a prostactectomy (surgical removal of the prostate) may be done. You can live a happy normal life (even sexually) without a prostate.

Get well soon.

Personally, I never dismiss any help given, untill I do my own research. I suggest you RE-THINK your thinking. Health vs embarrasment.

Yes, it's called a sitz bath. Common for most perineum or lower GIT conditions. Most ladies who've had a baby have probably used one.

If Cipro is not well tolerated, a switch can be done to Levo or Moxi, or another class of antibiotics. TB patients take several antibiotics for 6 months or more with most patients successfully getting through the treatment course.

Thank you all for your contributions. I really appreciate it. The doctor has not recommended continous antibiotic treatment. Whenever I feel a bit better he does not prescribe any drugs. He however has told me it may take months to treat.

The urologists at KNH are the same ones are Nairobi, Karen, Aga Khan, MP Shah etc. You will queue longer to see him (sometimes he will not turn up) and you will still pay 2k for each visit. See a doctor at a hospital where even the auxiliary services (lab, imaging, etc) are efficient. Go see Dr Waihenya at MP Shah, Dr Owilla at Aga Khan/KNH, Dr Kanyi at MP Shah, Dr Wambani at UHMC.
