Any likely reaction of this to the Kengen counter?

I repeat what I said a while ago, there is equity value destruction underway here. Having said that I am not saying projects Kengen is doing are not worthwhile nor they will not sell the power. This is a company for the state and debt investors. Equity participants would have to wait for too long. 99% of the equity value is in perpetual value, the opposite of what happens to Build Operate Transfer arrangements.

There is alot of value here;classic example of a company that even though it has debts it still pays dividends, profits still growing.
It's also a favourite of institutional investors due to monopolistic nature in the electricity generation

just like KQ, Kengen is another bluechip firm for the mid to long term investor. returns of upto 100% are not far fetched. thank me later

@obiero am with you on this one. Kengen is now my single biggest holding, mostly picked at 8-9 Sh. I sit tight and wait for payday, at leas Sh 25.

The day of reckoning is nigh. Kengen has never failed to pay dividend since listing despite what is commented here as far back as 2009. True, the price has stagnated but fact is that it is still terribly undervalued

...this thing is now a SELL...I'm into Kenya Power instead.

I sold mine two years ago but I believe those in it for the long term, say 7-10years, stand to reap big.

We are now at KES 5.45.. But better days lie ahead. Stay strong.

Any info you may have from the exchange bar about details of the rights issue.
This issue needs to come and pass once and for all
I see you are also invested in KENGEN

No. I have not asked about KEGN of late. What I know is that current trend in share price points to disaster.. But its too late to exit. The bus is out of control

A rights issue is a legalized means for managers to shaft existing shareholders. Any attempt to analyze this counter leaves one with a biter taste. The only question that begs an answer is how competitive is Kengen in rewarding capital invested. Ie ROI. my attempt on it has yielded a range of 6:1 all the way 2:1 at 3/= all the way to 5.5/=. At 6:1 post rights price of 3/= WIll be more than five star. Kengen is good at breaking records. And the paining wait continues.

A much clearer cartoonsmile
Rising volumes with falling prices.
RSI, Bollinger bands all pointing to overselling.

@sparkly, hope you are holding out long term. We still have the Oct 2016 date when we review KEGN again. My target is 4/- with the rights issue thrown into the dustbin!
