At the first instance I felt for Mercy. The story is a typical story of 'born-again' couples until the point the man manned up, rebelled and did the unthinkable.

I have come to realize born-again husbands are the most sat on men in Kenya. Your wife insults you but you cannot do anything - like argue back with a slap, you cannot cheat on her, etc.

The lack of 'release' builds up to a point of NO RETURN hata kama ni mboch or cutting your wife's throat ISIS style (the Kikuyu/Thogoto old man was a quiet church guy).

Mercy's case wasn't tragic physically but emotionally it was almost.

I think born-again men should stand and stop entertaining crap from their wives....keeping quiet just builds anger or lust and the day of release ni ngori! (Well I'm not insinuating Mercy is to blame only that the gaps in the story reads like the common script).

Born-again women should also learn to differentiate between playing roles in church and the submission required at home.

You've touched on a really sensitive one. There is a funny pastor who was telling us the same thing.

His solution was simple. Buy a beer can from the supaa, sprinkle on your clothes then throw those crazy tantrums pretending to be drunk. You know picking a plate and throw it against the wall. Make sure it breaks. She will threaten to call either the pastor or a church elder. Give her the phone.

Then whoever shows up, pull them aside and let them know you are sober and are only trying to restore the balance of power. They are also likely dealing with the same crap at their homes.

I am convinced it can work 100%. Women don't like taking chances with wazimu types.

Ihate to imagine what our resident pastor is going through.

On a different note, I have seen abusive the so called "born again husbands" who drink, cheat and beat up their wives just because they hold a leadership position in church
If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.
