Things causing downward pressure on the price of oil:
1. Contracting Chinese economy
2. Saudi Arabia's refusal to pump less gas
3. Shale drilling in the USA
4. General shift in attitudes towards renewable sources of energy.
Things causing upward pressure on the price of oil:
Nothing really. There is a glut in regards to supply vs demand

It is also good for downstream oil companies, due to reduced financing cost ( cheaper imports) as well as transport sector ( more margins since the fare/ air tickets have not reduced in tandem with the reducing prices)
Bad for upstream business as seen by Tullow oil Downsizing and 4,000 job loses by BP http://www.bbc.com/news/business-35289771

The Fixed Cost [Taxes, Transport & Margins] component is now higher than the variable [fuel] component. The taxes = cost of fuel!
