Kenya's Jubilee Holdings posted a 24 percent increase in full-year pre-tax profits and said it will issue shareholders with bonus shares after a strong rise in the number of people taking out insurance.

The insurance company recorded gross profits of 1.12 billion Kenya shillings ($14.53 million) for the period to end Dec. 31.

It said earnings per share rose to 18.33 shillings from 14.14 shillings. It recommended a total dividend 4.50 shillings per share and declared a bonus share issue in the ratio of 1:10.

"Jubilee Kenya recorded an impressive 26 percent growth in general business, a 24 percent in life business, and consolidated its market leadership in medical business with an increase of 11 percent," it said in a statement.

The company which also operates in Tanzania and Uganda said underwriting profits increased by to 359 million shillings last year from 265 million shillings the previous year.

very impressive.. the bonus shares are just what @VVS predicted in a previous thread... this is a very good company to buy into... the P/E is now down to around 8.8... though i'm a little cautious because they want to start covering political risks...

all in all very nice results Applause

I have always been a fan of the Aga Khan firms. Solid management.

TPSEA, Jubilee, Diamond, Nation...

Even with the profit drop in 2009, I am sure Nation will do better in 2010...

looks like investors are getting wind of the news but rather slowly... the stock has broken 150 which was a key resistance level...

In 2007 they rewarded their shareholders with a 1 bonus for 5 held and the results then were very impresive. Maybe this time around it will be 1:10 like the other Agakhan stocks... but lets wait and see.

Thanks @BGL. This are very good results indeed. I have no idea how far the share will go in terms of price to reflect the new informations. To KES 180 i guess ...
Don't gamble; take all your savings and buy some good stock and hold it till it goes up, then sell it. If it don't go up, don't buy it...
