Ericsson wrote:Rally has began as guys accumulate shares in preparation for the rights issue. Gain of 13% in two trading sessions by KENGEN 30,000 shares worth 226,450/- traded as of Noon. Don't get too excited when Uchumi's turnover is 245,000/-. Billions of shares will be available. Just like KQ, I expect the Rights to trade at 5 cents towards the end. Or if the itch needs to be scratched, buy 100 and apply for Additional Shares. There will be plenty of shares left over. Greedy when others are fearful. @VituVingiSana Do you mean KENGEN rights issue will be priced at ksh.5? The rights issue will be priced at ksh.6.50. Let's now wait for approval from Capital Markets Authority within the next one month Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

Untaken rights are usually allotted to shareholder who apply for extra rights using a pre-determined allocation criteria. Do you expect a significant departure from this practice? Life is short. Let's now wait for approval from Capital Markets Authority within the next one month Rights can be traded. I was referring to the price for the Rights [which can be traded on the NSE] not the EXERCISE PRICE of the Rights. You can buy a RIGHT [essentially a Call Option] to buy a KenGen share at a pre-determined price [Exercise Price] on the NSE. When there are more Rights on offer than demand the price of the Right [Call Option] can fall to the minimum possible level which is 5 cents. Greedy when others are fearful. I still can't wrap my head around at doing a highly dilutive Rights Issue during a bear market, when there was a bull market for 2-3 yrs. This is KQ rights issue all over again. Same script different cast. Only thing missing from the cocktail is management issues and scandals. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

The scams have been 'hidden' from view at the moment but Baba shall uncover them. Anyway, despite the attractive PER & PB, I am staying far, far away just like that galaxy in Star Wars! For once, I will be greedy where vvs is fearful... I will take up my rights in full.... If the trading price at the bourse tumbles, then I will further average down... Hoping govt takes up its rights to avoid oversupply on the floor For investors as a whole, returns decrease as motion increases ~ WB

This is one company with potential but the beneficiary have not been and will not be the share holders.
You even tell from the board with ZERO shares. They know who are the beneficiaries.
I agree with @vvs on this one, though am a trapped shareholder.

Electricity distributor Kenya Power and Lighting Company said yesterday it was not opposed to a proposal by Kenya Power Generating Company to sell power directly to large consumers near its plants. KPLC chief executive Ben Chumo said its the plan will not hurt its profitability since it has been clearly thought out between them. Chumo said the near monopoly power supplier will also engaged the Energy Regulatory Commission to ensure rules are followed in the plan. The framework will mostly rope in the manufacturers setting up base in special economic zones. http://www.energybiz.com...s-direct-power-sale-plan"There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .
