Someone please educate me on KQ pricing formula I am taking a flight from Mombasa to Nairobi, the plane is about half full and tickets going from 16k, I paid early at 4k wouldn't it make more sense to lower prices to get more passengers?

Yes it makes sense but the guys doing the pricing are shitty characters to say the least, oblivious of reality.

KQ is trying to maximize on the last-minute flyers.
Is it 16k one-way in economy? The idea is that whoever needs to fly will fly and pay 16k.

My view is that you can do so when enough seats are sold out & the flight is breakeven so any 'new' passengers are 90% profit. The problem is that flying breakeven flights is not profitable but flying profitable is profitable.

That's economy funnier still I tried buying a ticket online for a friend and the same flight was now full, the friend drove, I get on the plane and it's not even half full plus is was the big Boeing not the usual Embraer SMH, someone kick sense into Ngunze or is gunze

I never understand that...Booking a ticket last week I got the message that there are only 2 seats left. In choosing a seat this weekend, there were only 3 seats to choose from. When I got to the airport I asked if I could get one further ahead. They said, yes of course. I got the first row after business class. The seat next to me was empty, and so were many others.

That is an alarming claim. No shows do happen, but not half a plane and not on domestic flights.. The empty seats may just represent arap hyena, part of the false ticketing senator nyongo was alluding to..

KQ is selling seats/tickets like Private Developers 'sell' apartments.

Before the projects starts: 40% sold
When the ground is dug: 50% sold
When the first floor is poured: 60% sold
When the last but one floor is poured: 70% sold
When the last floor is poured: 80% sold
When the painting is completed: 90% sold
When the first unit is sold: 2 units left
When the project is 1 year old: 1 unit left

When you go there, only 40% of the units are occupied!

Waiting KQ's performance slide expected to open new doors for 2016 entry at the lowest level of 2bob. KQ is half way to my dream entry price. I'll utter wow loudly as I grace my CDSC account's generous purchasing power to my slumber land.

@obiero remember the company is operating with negative equity which translates to overpriced KQ at NSE bourse. If next loss announcement broadens further, it'll stir status quo of kes 4.5 by sending jitters amongst Wanjiko who would impulsively let it go on a free fall. Recall it is you to obey the law of gravity; however, if the law of gravity obeys you it is news. The price resistant at kes 4.5 is normal because some guys bought the share expensively and are expecting a reverse in performance which is not forth coming in the next 18 months. Finally the kes 4.5 floor will be broken, as some investors and a handful of speculators will grow impatient on government much awaited bailout, to unveil what is inside ground level.

@Spikes let me give you a basic schooling on how to value asssets.

Value of asset:ADD all foreseeable future incomes TO the expected terminal value of the asset AND discount all to the present value.

The market is saying that if you buy KQ today and hold till Jesus comes back, you will have made KShs 4.50 (give or take a few cents) in today's cash equivalent.

What you are telling us is that by the time Christ come back, you can only make KShs 2.
Life is short. Live passionately.

Well, I think @Spikes is optimistic. I value KQ shares in its current form [ceteris paribus] at zero.
1) There is no future income/profit expected for 18 months even by the ever optimistic @Obiero. It will take many years after that for profits to build up to decent levels.
2) The expected terminal value [based on today's NAV] is negative for many years. If anything, the hole gets deeper every month. [And there's the real possibility of 'dilution' by a sale of shares to a strategic partner. See ARM].
3) The current discount rate is 15% [I am using the 9-year IFB as my benchmark].
