Ethnicity is not bad at all if it is not negative!
Asking whether someone is a Kikuyu ,pokomo or Rendile is alright if it is not used to subject some harm or disadvantage .
I have never seen any Mzungu bothered when asked if they are Scottish or Irish.
Even in Tz where tribalism is non-existent people openly joke about tribes.
