NSSF Uganda has got an average return of 12% to Ugandan savers and is heavily invested in Safaricom, KCB and Equity. I wonder what returns if any our NSSF Kenya manages from trading in equities or dividends.

Inspite being bigger hence having a bigger amount of cash than NSSF Uganda NSSF Kenya gave 7.5% as at 2013 FY.
Results for Financial Year 2013/2014 are not yet out and we are heading to 2016.
The way these guys (NSSF Kenya) works is funny

Today was the AGM. I arrived late so I shall mention what I got in questions session. The rest who were present on time can say much:
1. Date and price for rights will be communicated by directors soon.
2. The chairman said the tendapreneurs accusations were false as they were cleared. The complainant appealed, case ruling was to be today.
3. Came in Chami!!!
4. They couldn't pay higher dividend owing to prevailing policy and the company needs more cash to fund projects.
5. Some directors were questioned as to why they don't own shares in kengen. (Do they lack trust in company they work for?)
6. From the shareholding 88501 have btwn 1-500 shares that's 1%. 39827 have 501-1000 about 1.44%. 43647 have 2000-5000 that's 4.24%.
7. The speakers/questioners really praised the management. I even thought they were hired or lured with the full lunch box (water, juice, yoghurt, apple, chicken piece, toast, cake, chocolate).
Anybody who heard the initial part?

Hello Wazuans,

I am new to wazua but i have been in stocks for 2 years now. Looking for long term shareholding.

I hold 65000 shares of Kengen and 1 more portfolio which isnt on NSE. From recent developments, the company has been postponing announcement of the share rights.

Can you Wazauns help me to know what i expected of me when share rights are announced? If i don't go for them can i transfer the right?

What do you recommend?

I may repeating questions asked before but i plead to be forgiven out of ignorance.

Thanks

KenGen of Kenya Seeks Partner to Help Develop Geothermal Plants

Kenya Electricity Generating Co. said it may partner with U.S., Chinese or Indian investors to finance and develop geothermal plants, including a $650-million facility that will generate as much as 180 megawatts.
KenGen, as the company is known, will probably take a minority stake in Olkaria VI, the plant it expects to begin building in 2018, as it tries to step up generating capacity to meet at least half of the East African nation’s requirements, Finance Director John Mudany said Wednesday in an interview in the capital, Nairobi.

“We could take up 49 percent equity and we hope this will help us attract private investors,” Mudany said. “This is a new instrument we want to pioneer. If it works, we might apply this model on future projects.”
KenGen wants to more than double its generation capacity to 4,270 megawatts by 2025, via plants at geothermal wells Olkaria VII and VIII, Chief Executive Officer Albert Mugo said in a separate interview. KenGen could also partner with the Geothermal Development Co., a state-owned entity that is developing geothermal resources, Mugo said.

The plan to boost generation to at least half of anticipated demand in a decade will cost about $8.1 billion, according to Mugo. The company is considering financial and technical partners from the U.S, Japan, India and China, all of whom have expressed interest in joint ventures, he said, without identifying them.

“Olkaria VI is going to be a pilot and depending on interest, we could do the next one very quickly,” Mugo said. “People are keen to work with us, there are investors who keep asking us how far our plans are are, this is not something unrealistic.”

NSSF Kenya gave a return of 7.5% in 2013 and they are bigger than NSSF Uganda with a big portfolio that also includes residential and commercial buildings.
They are yet to release 2014 statements and we are headed to 2016.

Not bad. Let's hope the performance is maintained after rights otherwise the dilution effect could be nasty
