Victor Wanyama, fed up with the shabby treatment meted out to the national team by the government and by FKF was so pissed off that he refused to shale the sports ministers hand A few home-based Harambee Stars players, who were busy tucking their hand luggage in overhead lockers, froze as word filtered in that their trusted general, Victor Wanyama, had declined to board the plane. Outside the departure lounge, Cabinet Secretary for Sports Hassan Wario had his hand extended to a motionless Harambee Stars captain, Wanyama. Wanyama had received a call from his English club asking him about his safety following information in mainstream and social media of an “inferior” aircraft meant to cover 6,870km and back. Southampton also demanded to know whether the players were insured. The English club asked to change Wanyama’s flight to Cape Verde, but Wanyama would not abandon his teammates at the hour of need. story here

How does the national team management work, is it the government that is supposed to manage the team or the national association.
Shouldn't it have been the association officials at the airport making travel arrangements instead of the cs, if it was not the role of the cs to make such arrangements why the hostility towards him.

I don't get it,I seriously don't get it. Cape Verde is off the coast of Senegal and Kenya Airways has a flight to Dakar via Bamako. There are regular flights and also a ferry(I think) between Dakar and Praia. Truth forever on the scaffold Wrong forever on the throne (James Russell Rowell)

I have said it before and will say it again. Kenyan officials are all useless and only good at showing up at the airport to take credit for the good performance of the track athletes. Kenya's preparations for the Cape Verde match were poor and the ministry of sports is largely to blame. They were aware of the match at least one month in advance yet they released money to FKF barely 24 hours before Harambee stars were to leave. And knowing how incompetent Nyamweya is, they should not even have given him the money. The ministry should have taken over the Harambee stars program. And don't give me that jazz about FIFA interference because even Nyamweya said last month that he wants the ministry to take over running Harambee stars. Wario is incompetent beyond belief. Even Cardovilis thinks that Wario should follow Waiguru, pack up and go

I know the Wario thing has already been taken over by cord, so it will just be an all out attack where lies and facts will be blurred - but just looking at the current situation objectively should we blame him.

This is another Waiguru scenario.Same script. Consistency is better than intensity

But I think we have to remember football does not equal sports, the rugby guys seem to be doing ok, so are the volleyball girls, the athletes also. I mean if the cs is that bad why are the others doing ok, I really don't think the cs for sports is involved in the individual sports.

On this one, its Samson Nyamweya first to go. Not home, but JAIL! Sijui what people see good in this guy. How powerful is this fellow that he can afford to destroy Kenyan football with all the impunity that comes with it? Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you.” ― Rashi
