The price is under valued considering that all they invested in last year is now performing very well.

@mv_ufanisi
70% reduction in expected profits was a material announcement made sometimes last year april 02,2009.The main reasons then were (i)Drop in the NSE listed stocks and (ii)impairment of RVR investment.

To post such info is misleading....Besides if such info existed it will be posted on the NSE website. Out of curiosity i called their offices and they do not know the source of that info and it should be disregarded.

@BGL - I've edited my post. I read this on Mars Group Kenya and the date there was wrong. So I take it back. Was definitely for 2009.

On a different note it seems that Centum got out of RVR after Transcentury and Ambience Ventures of Citadel Group have agreed to work together in RVR.

Will that translate into a one off profit for Centum?

@edwing..centum got off Govenment paper in 2007-08 ..just as recession drama started..and they kept off as every one else joined in!!!
As of March 3rd 2009 they had not invested in bills nor bonds...their holdings in KQ were valued at Kshs28.8M..compared to cos of kshs160.9M
BBK...worth kshs 44.7M..cost kshs 87.2 M
Safcom worth 120.2M..cost kshs234.6M
Best bets they had at that time were Carbacid,EABL and KCB...

I put your quote coz they are likely to underperform your projections...might just break even.
But hey, I could be wrong..Drool

@mv_ufanisi Transcentury is still in RVR if you saw last evenings news 23/03/2010. That deal gives hope to Centum @ProverB Centum did some borrowing last year after reporting losses and reinvested the money at great prices, but their yet to announce their performance.

@edwing read my post again. Transcentury is still in the deal but Centum, Primefuels, Mirambo & other moniroty shareholders likely sold their stakes to Citadel.
Given that Centum had written this investment off, it will definitely lift their profits.
@ProverB - didn't know that Centum paid such high prices for their stocks! Just unimpressive. If the Kenyan market was expensive they should have diversified and bought Ghana, Botswana, Nigeria or Tunisia stocks on the exchange.
Buying at such high prices is the opposite of buy low sell high. WOW.

edwing.

I also have some shares here, but I would be suprised the price go beyond 15 bob. Apart from this RVR deal, there is nothing else to support the higher prices

@Bangkok - Centum is already at 15.50. I believe it will rise to about 20. Last year, and being a bad year the peak was around 17. I am hopeful...
