They don't deal with locals like you unlike these thieves who steal premios and household items and retreat to their hideouts in Kiambu county to take second generation brews in slums.

So this Chris Okeyo Obure reported Paul Kobia (the man who boasted to have killed Fidel) to the cops for dealing in fake gold? Then he took over from his master?

Quote:
Obure, went to the police on November 8, 2010 to report a crime in progress. He told two senior officers at the Criminal Investigations Department about a million-dollar con game allegedly run by his boss, Paul Kobia. A person known to police, Kobia has been previously linked to one Joe Karimi, with whom he allegedly ran a smelter used to produce and sell counterfeit gold. Kobia was arrested a day later, rushed to court and released on a bond of less than half a million shillings. Police eventually dropped the charges against the man UN investigators called the “Kenyan mastermind” after one of the witnesses Obure had warned signed an affidavit saying his firm had no complaints against Kobia and his associates. According to confidential Government documents seen by this team, Obure was a former employee of Kobia’s Great Lakes Group of Companies. He claimed he came across evidence of the gold frauds in late 2010, while working for Kobia.

Media is really giving these padlock dealers publicity this year. How many young men will be tempted to follow in their footsteps after being shown this glamorized version of their lives? Don't be tempted by this biz. These padlock dealers are usually permanently on the run from their customers who are ready to kill them

You know that a society is rotten when it glorifies conmen, thieves, scammers, fraudsters, drug dealers etc etc.

One thing I forgot to mention: 99% of conmen are petty theives, only stealing a few thousand at a time. The ones who steal $1m and over are rare. And at all levels the same risk of being beaten to death follows you around for your whole life. It's not worth it. These media articles remind me of the movie Godfather, which makes gangster life look so sweet and lucrative, kumbe most gangsters are just estate bullies pilfering a few hundred Bob off of scared villagers
