Guys, if you were given a million Kenya shillings (that is USD 9,790 as of 5th of Nov 2015 at 4:15pm) and 10 years to invest.

Where would you park (invest) the cash and why?

NB: Capital erosion should be kept at minimum

Thanks

Sewe

Meaning in a 10 year horizon, you should make a decent return in land, stocks, bonds, business, almost any investment venture really - as long as you know it ...and have paid losses, earlier, to master it.

10yr ago if someone had used 1m to buy 20acres huko kitengela (at 50k per acre), today he'd have 320m at the current price of 2m per 1/8 th. Land is king.

Imagine if the guy with 20 acres had planted some trees as well

I just dislike this 'sit back' speculation on land

Trees do not grow well in all types of environments, in this climates actually, especially the profitable ones like eucalyptus and cypress......they only fair well where their is plenty of ground water and where the water table insnt far from the surface! so growing trees om Kitengela i think is misinformed!!

Ever heard of the law of diminishing returns.

That land has increased by 320 times.

Now, do you seriously expect it to be worth 320 * 320 million = 102 Billion 10 years from now??

and

320 * 102 Billion = 32.8 Trillion 10 years from then (that is 20 years from now)???

Tafakari hayo!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
