Unhedged fuel prices are a plus as the oil bear continues. How much longer before KQ hedges expire?
The hedges run upto Sep 2016 if I recall. They spread the hedges over the time-frame i.e. rolling hedges.

IMHO, KQ is going to continue losing money on its hedges in place on 31 Mar 2015.

And well protected.
The losses are a take already, nothing you can do about it, while @George Soros is sipping his fine champagne and smoking cigar in the virgin beaches of the Guyana.

@ sniper I practically disagree with you on ur loosing Money mantra. If the word loose means separating, then a wise investor should loose Money for a worthy investment venture. The problem lies within the unsaid word inside the suckhole statement. Otherwise rewriting the same, I may say, never loose your worthy Money for an (unworthy) investment idea. The venture turns back chums or inakonda with your cents. So when u find Peso yako ikitolewa ssackerz that is tym u know ur inside slaughter house, with the bear and the bull and the cards drawn.

@muandiwambeu must be a lawyer.. sijaelewa chenye ameandika but it sounds convincing

It took a while but I finally figured what @muandiwambeu meant. I agree with the premise of investing in a worthwhile investment which brings returns. That is what @sparkly also meant when he talked of losing money. Oh and by the way, it was actually @sparkly's post not mine see post 2490 link.

@sniper I roger that.
Further to value investing n loss control, what would be the net asset value for kq if @obieros 7.xy figure materialise. Will the bear quote at a discount or bulls will take hope at a premium? Things are intricate here. d'oh!

The NAV/share is NEGATIVE as of 31 Mar 2015. Another loss will push the NAV/share further into NEGATIVE territory.

This are very thick for KQ and will continue to be thick even after the results.

@sniper. To avoid voodoo investing. That statement of yours may need an explanation. The way I see it its only up from here.. Even a vastly improved loss (sic) will warrant a mini rally.. The only thing that cannot and will not happen is for the airline to report a loss before tax more than last years KES 12.49B

If the loss is greater than last has to be reported unless books get doctored to trigger a rally to enable insider guys exit...

@Obiero, alumni! KQ has attracted a lot of those Andy Gray says 'couldn't hit a barn door with a machine gun'.

I expect conversation around cause and effect of fleet transactions; The sale of the 767 & 737-300s. The 2 new 737-8NGs. What happened to the 3 E-170s. What will happen to the 3 777-300s now that the last 2 787-8s are here.

Messrs McKinsey we go back since KCB & KGN and my greatest admiration is their high score on cost containment. The rest are extras.

Let's see.
