Going by the inooro promos i doubt people will remember njata after the launch.Must be dejavu for rose kimotho if am not wrong she owns 3 stones tv .Inooro fm overran kameme despite being the first vernacular radio station in kenya.

Wacha ujinga.

Did you know KBC broadcast in mother-tongue in the previous golden years?

First Vernacular FM Radio

Moi govt wanted it closed, citing possibility of vernacular radio being used to fuel tribalism.

Rose lost to SK but later SK lost to Kameme when it was taken over by Mediamax

But for TV, I doubt enough guys wacth Rose's 3 Stones...boring. Njata and Utugi(Wa Muchomba) are more entertaining and educative.

Macharia has guts..let’s see how it works out. Including getting enough guys to advertise in the vernacular TVs , plus 24 hours run. Even CNN struggles with 24 hour runs.

Good part of it he is creating Jobs even for those walianguka Kisungu

Are the vernacular radio stations getting enough guys to advertise?

I believe they will succeed as long as they are able to sell the content...there's always a willing buyer.

I agree. They seem to have hacked it. I never imagined I would watch a Kikuyu TV Station after what I saw on Njata. Very educative programs especially on health, farming and other inspirations stories of people making it. Yes.... Kienyu na Kienyu is something to follow.

It sounds very nice when those nice looking "middle class" kids speak very fluent kikuyu.

If for nothing else, I support vernacular stations because they will help to build a record of the culture, history and languages of Africans. The difference between many African cultures and cultures in many other parts of the world is the lack of documented history.
All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.
