...and I'm not ashamed to say it.

Despite challenging economic conditions globally and the drought locally, the Company took proactive measures to protect and grow its business. Sales in all the divisions increased and group turnover was up by 11%. The Company maintained its gross margins at 36% through further operational efficiencies. Profit after tax grew by 28%'

I'm a member too, with less than 20 shares. I'm however shocked that the subsidised fertiliser was found at their plant being repackaged. Very dissappointing and a great vote for their corporate social responsibility.

I had so much hope for this company,and in fact I am very well invested in it.If the management has become rotten,I expect a lot of pain to investors in the future.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

@muganda, this was on 9pm news last night. Being a channel hopper I can't remember which channel it was between KTN, NMG and Citizen. But they showed seriously incriminating footage. And to be fair to you, your initial post was before the TV news.

Yes these ARM guys are another bunch of shameless thugs....WEZI!... Ruto move with speed and shutdown this factory as investigations and arraigning of the culprits in a court of law. They steal govt of Kenya branded fertilizer and repackage it as their own..... what punishment befits such a listed company?

People... I am sure this is NOT a matter of ARM the company but corrupt employees...

ARM sells thousands of bags of quality fertilizer...

I think some ARM employees bought the cheaper (lower quality) fertilizer & used MAVUNO bags to dupe the public!

Same thing happens with fake cigarettes & cement re-packaging

This is really pathetic...there are just too many scandals in this country due to the love of money which is the root of all evil.
@VVS ,
If so, why has the ARM MD not come out to set the record straight ?

@chaka - ARM's MD is in London for business/personal reasons... I am sure he is aware of the situation & will respond after he returns & investigates

At least 3 other Kenyan CEOs were in London for an investment conference to promote their companies & Kenya.

@BGL - What a load of crap!!!

Subsidized fertilizer was destined to be stolen. I have written this earlier. Also firms like ARM suffer coz subsidies to IMPORTED fertilizer is wrong! Why not support local firms?

ruto (& his friends like kibor) are crooks!!! I bet they are stealing as we speak...

ARM is innocent. I am certain... lakini how can u control employees?

VVs 2 wrongs dont make a right ...if the politicians are stealing ,.. should public listed companies also steal from public (taxpayers/investors)? ...this is the line of thought that middle class should stop if we are to win war on graft....

....will take MD politicalLaughing out loudly responsibility for the mess by the employees.... if what you are saying is true...

@VVS

You sound like a shareholder.... nevertheless, it doesnt sound convincing that these guys are clean... There is absolutely no way a bunch of low profile employees would be having tonnes and tonnes of government fertilizer and packaging them on company gunias without anyone in the management knowing. Dont they have procedures on how inventory is received and dispatched out of their go-downs or factories?

If we say the back lies with the minister when corruption under his docket is revealed, arent we applying double stands to clear this MD even if it was the "juniors" involved? it is in our laws of kenya that even if you bought a good, and that good happens to be stolen and you were not aware, you are still guilt of possession of stolen goods. The fertilizer wasnt in the employees' compounds.

@wendz @fundaah

I am a shareholder.

No double standards...

1) Employees of ARM should be fired if they are stealing from ARM. They cant be fired by ARM for stealing from GoK. It does not sound right but legally ARM would have a problem with COTU & unions... Unions dont let ARM fire employees even if they steal unless a 'package' is negotiated.

2) Of course, the MD has to know what is happening... BUT the point is being personalized from ARM to MD... The initial question/accusation was ARM was doing it... and it is not...

3) Unlike the MD for ARM (who owns 40%+ of ARM) the minister does not have any ownership of the ministries.

4) The MD can be removed by shareholders for under-performance by the Board &/or shareholders. kibaki never fires corrupt ministers. He appoints them too... Using the logic... shouldnt kibaki resign? (Erm, I think he should have...)

@wendz - Nonsense (in this specific case)... When u say tons & tons... how many tonnes?

(Bulk) Fertilizer comes packed in 25kg or 50kg bags. So only 20 bags x 50kgs = 1 ton

Even a Nissan or Toyota pickup can carry 1 ton...

My point is that fertilizer is a low-value item (i.e. 1 kg is not 'expensive' when compared to many other goods) thus an ARM employee could easily buy (in collusion with NCPB or others) 5 tons (5 pickups) & use stolen Mavuno sacks.

My point is that ARM

@wendz - What do u do for a living?

Ati, 'control systems'... please these employees are Kenyans... who are almost as innovative in stealing as Nigerians...

If u can fake Title Deeds, Passports, IDs... what is 're-packaging' using stolen sacks?

These same Kenyans (I am acting like I am not one... LOL) steal electricity transformer oil, transformers, poles!!! So what is re-packaging?

So VVS ...you are totally defending this corrupt deal where tghe MD is aware that employees are stealing from the public (don't say Govt... govt doesnt pay taxes )....and next time you say Ruto Raila and Kibaki are corrupt ...think twice....You mean an employer cant fire an employee involved in criminal activity because of Trade Unions...come on VVS .I respect your contributions here but this one... !! dont let me down
