@Kitie and in total agreement with Horton, you can look through a company's annual reports and their financial statements but there has also got to be something said for how the company is run. if your concerns are with the company, if it is a good business, the stock will eventually follow.

i also have a large part of my portfolio in this company... they have done and are doing a substantial lot to solve their inefficiencies

INEFFICIENCY: The blackouts and flactuations are due to the high demand for power and limited supply...
SOLUTION: Distribution of energy saving bulbs to lower the demand and entering power purchase agreements with IPP's...

INEFFICIENCY: Losses arising from inadequate payment of bills and vandalism
SOLUTIION: prepaid meters and increased vigilance on assets..

INEFFICIENCY: slow connection rate of the population.
SOLUTION: GOK setting up KETRACO to assist with connection of new customers...

and thats only three of them....

@guru, dont get me wrong, all im saying is that, if it was a normal company with the same par value as a common stock then the conversion ratio would be 1:1, but in this case there is also politics, being a parastatal, they might do it in the favor of the public and that would be brilliant for the shareholder... however, if they went the normal way, then the minority shareholders(which are very few) are royally screwed!!

Personally, I worked out the Pros and the Cons, added in a mixture of the politics and the uncertainty and this wasnt a stock for me...as someone said earlier, we are all different with different hopes and expectations....

But if it does work out as you had put it, ie 794M divided by 185bob=4.3M shares, then hey good for you....the sore losers would be the govt and more so, the kenyan taxpayer... but at this point, just too many variables to actually say what is going to happen.

@horton please, please dont misqoute me... i said 13.8bn divided by the market price at the time of conversion... not what you've written..
