@mv-ufanisi please explain why you think KQ will benefit overly from the world cup.

IMHO the only way that KQ will benefit is if it has alot of idle capacity that it will utilise during the world cup month. Otherwise it will have to charge above normal rates. I don't see KQ charging above normal rates due to the competition with other airlines on the europe-africa routes.

Furthermore, the worldcup will only last one month and i expect the operating costs to increase substantially.

I have a feeling that speculation is very high on this stock.

The most common phrase I find posted about any stock listed on NSE is "THIS STOCK IS HIGHLY SPECULATED" The fundamentals of KQ and domination on african routes will drive this stock even higher, throughout much of this year. The WorldCup will only add to the sweetness.

@kaufman yes I am on record that as saying that IMHO, KQ is highly speculated on. You remind me of some lively debate that used to go on and on about equity, until the share got stuck in what appears like very thick mud. What, in your view is the true value of KQ based on fundamentals?

KQ is more than the world cup. They dominate Africa (together with Ethiopian)...

Also oil is $82.50... this will help with hedges...

KQ keeps moving. almost 2 million shares bought today. The crazy thing about human psychology is that this share looks more attractive than it did at 19 Kshs.

@guru - How is it over-valued?

The MINIMUM I expect for EPS is 5/- (without the hedge gains)...
I think it will do 5-7 as EPS & that includes the bad 1/2 year when the KQ staff went on strike...

I forgot to mention, the BA strike will benefit KQ as higher paying customers shift to KQ from London to Nairobi.

Also many business class customers will move to KQ from BA for the period before & during the strike...

Airlines are capital intensive businesses that are very hard to plan long term due to volatility of the industry .
Today you might be a leader tomorrow you are filing for bankrupcy just like the Japan airline.

But given that Kq has been able to wade this waters successfully I think this stock has a bright future.

Somebody is buying big into this company. Just saw a single trade of 700k shares. Given an average of 2 million shares traded for the last few trading days it seems someone is just buying and buying. It's 50% foreigner. I wonder if there is a major play going on for this stock.

Let us wait and see the results around May. Looks like holding helped a great deal for those who did not sell.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

KQ will benefit somewhat from the World Cup but the one counter that will benefit immensely form the tournament is scangroup. They're managing the media spend for the WC title sponsor Coke not only for EA but a huge region. We're talking serious figures! So there's a tip, get yourself some scangroup.

BBI will solve it

@2012,do you think the monies to be made/benefits to accrue to ScanGroup are already factored in the current price of Kshs28?

Also how big a region are we looking at here?
