Bree, reminds me of a time I was driving along Thika Rd in the morning and a vernacular station I just tuned into while surfing stations started saying 'you should take very good care of their boobs and wash them in the morning and evening carefully and let nobody else touch them...only you can make the difference with cleanliness and keep checking the boobs every now and then.''

As u may well imagine, I was extremely suddenly very interested, quickly memorising the station and wondering which new station had such audacity to reach new frontiers hitherto unmentionable over the airwaves in such colourful language...only to realise a few minutes later the bugger was advising dairy farmers how to wash the infected udders of a cow! Bure kabisa d'oh!

I refuse to tell anyone what i did to the dial of that car stereo...Shame on you

@Leona

Wasn't Sasha that proud owner of Sashamobile and which bowed out of showdown with the everblazing 'bijuti'?

Poor people. I shall leave them alone
Someone has a hold of them - some serious blackmail (or something darker) meaning that they have to unleash something.
or
They've been paid to distract guys from the constitution (not working)
Or wamechizi tu.
Esther at best looks to be struggling to play along, at worst to be under the influence.

Note how she defers to him with her statements, "As Hellon has said we....." "and Hellon will be telling you a...." Note how she glances at him whenever she speaks (video time 4:10) as if to seek affirmation. Note her attentive and slow head nodding when he speaks (video time 3:18). Note the body language at (video time 2:22). Do you see the hands held back, the slight lean forward, the head bowed with the shifting of position. This guy has this woman by her body, mind and spirit. Every living, breathing, talking, thinking (or not) part of her existence is in the hands of Joseph Hellon. My dear friends this for good or for ill this is what absolute power is. Total and complete domination of another human being. It is a craving that some people have just the same way some people have cravings for drugs. This guy Hellon is a power maniac and he wants his church everyone he meets and now the country at large to be in awe of him the way Esther is. He will do anything to be the centre of attention from pompous dressing to pompous talk. He will drive himself hard and will not tolerate dissent or opposition to his ideas. If he had the intellect, the power and resources he could do great and memorable things as some people in history who had the same temperament as he. They include Adolf Hitler, Maximilien Robespierre, Jean-Paul Marat etc. These kind of people literary change the world or die or go insane trying.

@kusadikika, the first part f your analysis is good. But the last sentence, am alarmed! Are u telling us Hitler's Third Reich's Dachau, Treblinka, Sobibor,Auschwitz-Birkenau,and all his other death camps all over Europe were great and memorable things!?

Kusadikika, I think the word for what you describe is "narcissistic". Despite the effort, the story is not about him, its about Arunga, for society revels more at 'big' people's apparent weakness than prowess.

I use the word great here to mean remarkable in magnitude, degree or effectiveness and yes all that you mention are some of the great evils he committed and yes, these will forever be remembered. But the public knowledge of Hitler is quite narrow and is restricted only to his great evil towards the end of his life. When writing this what I had in mind were not the evils he committed but the remarkable story of his rise from obscurity of birth and status first to win the confidence of the people and then to rebuild a country devastated by war and rally it behind him into another war. The economic growth of Germany from 1933 to 1939 is as yet unprecedented. (Maybe now by China). The guy was incredibly driven, supremely intelligent and yes EVIL!

"The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich." by William L. Shirer is a well written book that covers Hitlers life comprehensively. There is more to the man than the war and the gas chambers.
