FYI: if AMERICA had one station... the big actors that you are referring to would have suffered the same fate!
No one can pay you your worth, no matter how big a stick you wield - at best you will be paid what your employer can afford, if you need your worth then you should be paying yourself.
anyway, I think the vitimbi crew were content with what they were getting, and they seem like a happy lot, fully satisfied and exited by what they were doing - the only thing that got to them, at least from the interviews they have given - was the unexpected termination.
