NEMA

National Environment Management Authority. NEMA
I have a small residential plan I want to develop in Kajiado. I asked around and was told NEMA fee is approximate 36k, Only to get a rude shock that I need to pay in excess of 100 K for Nema approval.

Is there something am missing here?

NEMA license fee is 0.1% of total project cost with minimum of 10k. The EIA report is prepared by a NEMA licensed EIA/EA lead expert and you can negotiate the fees to be charged.

@Shalishali. Thanks for the Infor, My cost is going over the roof bcuz of the "NEMA licensed EIA/EA lead expert". as the cost for 0.1% is manageable @42k.

Does anyone one know average fee for NEMA licensed EIA/EA lead expert?.

Bastards.....it annoys me the level of hunger and intimidation tactics amongst civil servants and institutions not using common sense when reasoning (50k expired bandages??)

@Mukiri. Just do a Naaswa on them. Negotiate the cut with them and record it secretly on phone, or better still on a hidden camera. Give them a date to come and collect the cut. On that particular day, play the tape to them ( make sure you have a second copy safely stored elsewhere)and inform them you plan to submit to EACC. Be 100%!sure they give you a MIA after that. Then make sure you comply after that.

Come back and thank me later.

@Pesa Name, those Government Inspector chaps are not that sophisticated, unlike the land gang mafia. They are small time chaps like kanjo Askaris so their likelihood of a makueni dispatch are minimal.
